PTR Update Notes - Wednesday, January 21, 2026Settlements
- Settlement Buy Orders have been updated, so they correctly request resources that can be found in each biome and tier. No more asking things that can’t be found, like Bellygrit or Ruddyrot!
Character, Archetypes & Combat
- Summoner - Changing pets will change the pet abilities that are on your hotbar.
- Summoner - Summoned pets will now adjust their movement speed to stay closer to mounted characters.
- All new characters will start with rations.
- Character appearance at the character lobby menu and in-game character appearance are now identical. Options selected during character creation will display correctly.
- New idle animations have been added for each archetype.
Sport Fishing
- Fishing near the boundary of server workers will no longer cause a single cast to consume multiple lures, or spawn many fish that can’t be caught.
- Characters will no longer get XP from sport fishing, if they cancel the sport fishing cast early.
- Fixed a bug where a fish would immediately break the line, and the character fishing would no longer be able to use their sport fishing abilities.
- Fixed a bug that could cause hooked fish to disappear, while fishing at some locations in the world.
- Invisible Fish Tanks - This is a prospective fix to address issues that cause fish tanks to become invisible to some people.
- Chum throw animation has been updated.
Quests, Events & Commissions
- Jundark Harbinger Event - Fixed an issue that prevented waves from spawning correctly for this event.
- Harbinger Event Virulent Corruption - Fixed a bug that caused the Virulent Corruption debuff to apply incorrectly during this event.
- Changing Tides Quest - This quest has been updated, to have a new premise and new targets.
- Built on Blood Quest - Fixed a bug that prevented quest markers from displaying correctly for this quest.
- Rebel Rousers Quest - Updated this quest to make the rebels east of Samia's Hope easier to find.
- Welcome to Verra Hammer Rest Quest - Added significantly more targets for the Welcome to Verra quest on the Hammer Rest side.
- The Last Leg Quest - Trades Minister Duane has been moved to be in the Textile Mill in Aven’s End, and the construction site for this quest has been relocated. In addition, added more crate spawns for this quest.
- Crate Expectations Quest - Added more crate spawns for this quest.
- Boughbreaker Commission - Characters actually need to harvest oak timber to complete this commission, instead of just having the items in their inventory.
- Takin' it for Granite Commission - Characters actually need to mine granite to complete this commission, instead of just having the items in their inventory.
- Bonfire Commissions - Added new commissions to the Bonfire adventure board.
- Sandsquall Mayoral Commissions - When requesting stone, these commissions now accept Sandstone, Limestone, or Slate.
- Quest givers will no longer get bugged and disappear as a result of physics collisions.
- Removed blank events that could appear outside the border of the world.
Economy & Artisanship
- Animal Husbandry - Set all training recipes that can result in either a mount or beast of burden to have a 50% chance to reward a mount and a 50% chance to reward a beast of burden.
- Animal Husbandry - Removed items from Animal Husbandry recipes that are no longer available.
Enemies & NPCs
- Harbinger Event World Bosses - Fixed an issue that could cause some Harbinger event world boss abilities to be invisible.
- Bonebinder Seer NPCs have been fixed, so they actually drop things.
General Updates
- Snow during the winter season has temporarily been disabled, while we work to improve visual and performance related bugs.
- Pressing “/” when the chat window is empty will now actually put “/” into the chat window.
- When you die close to an Emberspring or move away from it, the Attunement Window now closes automatically.
- Improved Performance When Opening the Skill Menu (K) - Made improvements to address frame rate drops that happened sometimes when opening the Skill Menu.
- “Show None” has been added an an option for character visual effects (VFX) settings. "Show None" will prevent VFX from being displayed for the category selected.
- Picking up a Rusty Shield near the Divine Gates will no longer give multiple shields.
- Trees near Duunhold Settlement have been fixed, so they no longer spawn on top of each other.
