A ruined city: Perfect example "The Ruins of Myth Drannor" - Dungeons& Dragons

Absolutely Dreadful dungeons example "The Tomb of Horrors" Greyhawk DnD first edition

Random abandoned Wizard towers as dungeons and mini dungeons spread throughout the world examples in Forgotten realms, Greyhawk Source material books.

Old Dwarven strong holds examples in the writings of JRR Tolkien

Troll mounds min dungeons and treasure caches spread through out the world. examples in JRR Tolkien Hobbit

Bandit camps examples from Greyhawk , Forgotten realms, Game of thrones.

I really like the intricate layers of things like the Dwarven mountain halls. In a lot of series, especially LOTR, you can see the dwarves expert craftsmanship even in their architecture.

Taking a look at the Mines of Moria the pillars are massive, but even the pillars have several arches and ornate shapes/lines around the top and bottom of the pillar. Instead of a circular pillar with a flat top/bottom it looks more like this:

In terms of Wizard Towers I would really like to see some interesting magical/astrological based observatories. One of the first buildings that comes to mind that would be interesting to explore is something similar to Warcraft 3's Arcane Sanctum or Skyrim's Lexicon inscribing location. Two images respectively

I feel this kind of magical settings if stringed together throughout a dungeon or ruined labatory ETC would be phenomenal. It would also be a varied change of pace compared to the many "underground cave crawls".

Being an adept DM in both Pathfinder and D&D, I too love these source materials. You will most definitely be seeing this flavor across the world in general.
