Greetings, glorious adventurers! If you're joining in our Alpha One spot testing, please follow the steps here to see all the latest test info on our forums and Discord!

What type of player are you?

The poll options are the player types from the Bartle taxonomy of player types.
Pick the option that you feel most describes you.
Each player type (Socialiser, Explorer, Achiever and Killer) is defined by the gaming elements which they find most enjoyable.

Achievers like acting on the world. They are typically playing to “win”.
Explorers like interacting with the world. They delight in discovery.
Socialisers like interacting with other players. They spend a lot of their time chatting.
Killers like acting on other players. They wish to dominate them, either through bullying or through politicking.

If you want to, you can take this online test to help determine it.

If you do take the test, then pick the option that you were given the greatest percentage for.

  • I love entering new grounds, fighting stronger mobs and overpowering aggresive players.
  • Looking for an opportunity to do something awesome. Not sure what, but it'll be awesome!
  • I'm a bit of everything but a killer :P
  • None of those things really I just play for fun.

I did look at the questions, my internal answer to most of them was neither or none of the above.
  • I picked Socializer, then took the test and got Explorer. I did get socializer second though... maybe it's that when I start I explore the world, but once I have settled into the world, hanging out with others keeps the world alive.

Well that was an interesting test.  I'm not surprised by the main trait but quite surprised at the other results.  Really didn't expect Killer to be so high,  thought socialiser would be higher and thought Achiver would be next after Explorer.......   Just goes to show my computer and more directly Bartle knows me better than I do :)

The Bartle Test of Gamer Psychology

    You are 87% Explorer

    What Bartle says:

♠ Explorers delight in having the game expose its internal machinations to them. They try progressively esoteric actions in wild, out-of-the-way places, looking for interesting features (ie. bugs) and figuring out how things work. Scoring points may be necessary to enter some next phase of exploration, but it's tedious, and anyone with half a brain can do it. Killing is quicker, and might be a constructive exercise in its own right, but it causes too much hassle in the long run if the deceased return to seek retribution. Socialising can be informative as a source of new ideas to try out, but most of what people say is irrelevant or old hat. The real fun comes only from discovery, and making the most complete set of maps in existence.

    47% Socialiser

    47% Killer

    20% Achiever

I dont think the description at the end fits me.
"The more massive the distress caused, the greater the killer's joy at having caused it. "

I prefer fair arena fights and growth through battle, personal and gameplay wise.

    What Bartle says:

♥ Socialisers are interested in people, and what they have to say. The game is merely a backdrop, a common ground where things happen to players. Inter-player relationships are important: empathising with people, sympathising, joking, entertaining, listening; even merely observing people play can be rewarding - seeing them grow as individuals, maturing over time. Some exploration may be necessary so as to understand what everyone else is talking about, and points-scoring could be required to gain access to neat communicative spells available only to higher levels (as well as to obtain a certain status in the community). Killing, however, is something only ever to be excused if it's a futile, impulsive act of revenge, perpetrated upon someone who has caused intolerable pain to a dear friend. The only ultimately fulfilling thing is not how to rise levels or kill hapless drips; it's getting to know people, to undertand them, and to form beautiful, lasting relationships.

I expected the same before I started the test. I enjoy the PvP, but I also like to know much about the lore.

  • White hat exploiter and community advocate were, alas, not valid options for this poll. Nor was "magician" or entertainer.

Of the available options, about 50/50 explorer and socializer.
  • i kinda fall between them all

While I picked killer, I'm not really as interested in killing people as I am knowing that I can kill someone. I suspect I maybe should have picked achiever, but at the same time I like the aspect of being powerful. I don't care for having the most valuable items in the game nor the most rare skin, I'm the type of player who likes to be as strong and knowledgeable as possible.

I'd much rather know that I can kill any opponent but only have killed 1 over having killed 1000 men but not knowing I'm truly the strongest.

  • I'm afraid I don't have the time to play MMO's that I did 20 years ago so I tend to like to have things organised and when I'm on, we get to it.
  • I want to be the strongest/best allways.^^
