Class Design and detailed Information

Dear AoC -Community,

I've been thinking a lot about possible characters for Ashes of Creation.  When I create Character, I like to have a theme to it.  I pick more or less character that have a special lore background. Sometimes just made up by my own imagination   B)

But my question is will I be able to create a character with a themed skill bar?
What I mean is, can I have a build for a Mage, with only fire spells in  it? Are there Items in the game that would support this? (E.g.   +  X Fire damage)

Or another example would be,  a water-spell-based healer.

I mean it doesn't have to be viable in my opinion. But it would be cool if you can create a character skill build with only one school of magic.  Especially for roleplay-realm I guess.

Do think something is possible?

Will there be some kind of skill calculator for the class combinations?   So you don't have to try out all 8 classes to find the right class for you...

See you Verra: smiley:

I’ve been asking for a full water mage/ healer since the get go.

In a live stream i asked if we would be able to create a full on Water,Wind, or Nature/Growth class.

Nature growth magic was probably not ganna happen or even be in the game.

A full water mage youd have to go out of your way to try and create that, probably race choice, class choice maybe even more to be able to have a water class. Wich begs the question if it would even be usefull.
the Niküa Dwarves will probably have the best chance of getting water magic.
That’s not an option for me 😂

A viable full fire mage will probably be most likely be your best option.

Wind and Water magic were confirmed to be in the game but if we get to create a Water healer is not.

Ok I understand this.  Maybe you could go with a water-based summoner? or cleric/summoner mix this would be shaman: "Calling on the elements"?

    Questions and more questions...

My race is likely going to be Tulnar, but my final decision will be made, after I will see all race and class-skills/augments.

Look like we have to be patient, until more information is revealed
    :'(

And another question for me is:  a tank with shield and 1-handed-weapon has the ultimate abiliby to raise the  "protection wall". Does a  sword/shield using cleric has the ability?

If you are talking about the action combat trailers, those skills are pretty much tied to the weapons you pickup since there are no classes yet in Alpha's battle royal mode.

I talking about a Q&A way before the Pax east. Where they describe the classes for the pax playthrough.

For example the "Super" for a Tank with shield:  protection wall

The cleric had an ancestral or divine form. Wearing a staff

But the Mage had a magical book and Ranger obviously a bow

The rest I cannot remember  :)

And your idea with the different augments sounds great. The question is? Will they be viable?  Will augments determined by class/subclass/race?  Or will they focus mainly on an open system without boundaries to certain schools of magic (So every magic class, gets a fire, frost and water ability)?

    I can't wait for more Information    :D

+ earth magic with the erupting line of earth....possibly the gravity bubble too.

    I think its a dilemma, in that you;
option a) allow elemental skins to have truly universal magic styles ?
option b) allow builds to specialise in any and all elemental styles ?
option c) use class/archetype or build lock specific elemental styles to specific functional mechanics ?

I think not using different elements with different functional mechanics would be weird. And the only way to change functional mechanics would be via the class system. I mean how could use use both fire resistance and fire damage without being part of a functional integrated mechanic.
  • True mages go far beyond petty elements ;3 I always thought of magic as a near omnipotent power in the right hands, though gravity magic has always been something of a favorite of mine :3

same here gravity magic and time magic have so many powerful uses
  • And time-magic could bring us back  to see what caused the catastrophe   :D

  • time magic could also speed up your flesh's decay, you may become a walking bag of bones.. I see what you're after, nagash! :D

Time magic and space magic are straight up cheats xD
  • I kinda hope that your class won't completely dictate what spells will be at your disposal but that it gives you a baseline of what you can cast and the more powerful spells, morphs, or variations to those abilities are found in the world or learned from a certain NPC by completing a quest or dungeon.  Along with this thought, saving the much more powerful spells learned late game from certain events.

People will make one, you can count on that.

To the rest, possibliy. I mean they did stay they want to create a large skillpool for each class to choose spells from. I would doubt a water based healer right now since the healer is a Priest but who knows right? Maybe mages get some healing related spells with water.
