I've read that the game has no upfront cost, but instead has a subscription. Which is a relief to me, and I have been trying to find what the subscription gives you. If this question has been already answered, I'm really sorry ;-;

The monthly subscription for Ashes of Creation is mandatory and required to play the game, unlike in other mmorpgs like Elder Scrolls Online where the subscription is optional and gives additional benefits. Since there is no box cost the only thing you'll need to pay is the $14.99US a month.
