What we know about Taming and Breeding and what you think it should be like.

I know this has been discussed before but not i'm the way that I am going to so I am starting a new thread. In this thread I am going to list what we know about taming and breeding as of late March and then tell you what I would like to see be apart of the game and ask anyone who is interested about these kinds of thing how they think it will be or how it should be. First things first, what we know so far and that is not much but we do know that taming and breeding will not be simple as in Bless where you have a lvl of taming scroll then a RnG chance to tame and instead we will have multiple requirements to fulfill before we can tame. Their will be like skills related to both of these thing and we don't know how much RnG we will have but Steven as said he doesn't like the idea so hopefully we wont see taming being a direct outcome of chance. What we know about breeding is even smaller all we know is that their will be a stable element for holding mounts we don't know if this means we can only have one mount on us at a time or whether it is just a storage facility for them. At this time what we know about the outcome of breeding is at a minimum as we only know that breeding mixes their furs and the like and don't know how the baby stats and possibly skills will turn out due to their parents. As a final note as this doesnt really apply to either of these thing but I find very interesting is that the dragon will have "strong" combat abilities and makes me think other mounts will have abilities for combat since they bothered to describe is power and that we have got confirmation that mounts wont be boring in the way that you press W and mount moves said speed said forward and that at the very least their will be a acceleration mechanic in the game and that they have their own engine for mounts which we still dont know how complex flying/gliding will be but we can hope for it to be more interesting than most other games. To now talk about what your worrying about the cash shop, now luckily maybe depending on the king of person you are the only mount related items that will be in it are different coat/fur colors and schemes. Now after this long article you either may be bored to death or even more excited for Ashes so you can skip this next part as it is my "wishlist" for mechanics about taming and breeding. First I am very happy with the way they are going with this and don't really have much to wish for but I will tell you it anyways. I wish and it seems like it that the related life skills will affect the time for tame if it is a aspect of it or the bonus stats for the tame on top of being a requirement for better mounts as I find a it a good way to keep rare mounts rare. Steven has said their will be unique weapons and gear but what I want is UNIQUE MOUNTS as that will be an mazing thing to own. As far as breeding goes I hope its similar to Ark in the way that the child stats are a number between the parents stats but not in the way that it is RnG I instead hope that if you say have the related like skill at lvl 75 you get 75% of the gap and higher of the parents stats.

In response to "Steven has said their will be unique weapons and gear but what I want is UNIQUE MOUNTS as that will be an mazing thing to own." I'll just leave this here so you can be happy. :P "Dragons are epic mounts that will have strong battle abilities IE AOE Breath Weapons, swooping flyby attacks, and others. They will only be available to Kings/Queens of Castles, and Elected Mayors of Metropolis stage nodes."

Personally I love breeding but I can never really find the time for it.
I think it is a really interesting aspect of the game it it'll bring much mount diversity which is pretty neat.

Talent trees for mounts

Combat mounts

Mounts needing food and such

Thats all I can think of so far. :)

I simply cannot wait to get into breeding both mounts and pets.

    - Different types of mounts; To me one of the things I'm really looking forward to, is if there will be different types of mounts. We already know that pets will have different purposes, such as used for combat. I really do hope that they implement this for mounts as well. It seems very likely as well, since dragons will be used for combat.

    - Evolving; I would really like the ability to evolve mounts and pets. Perhaps you would find a tiger kitten that is first used as a pet, but later evolved and turn into a mount. Another idea could be for a mount to go from a certain type and evolve into a different type.

    - Viable way of progression and income; In BDO, selling mounts never felt like a staple way of getting income and progressing in the world, compared to going out grinding or doing other professions. In ashes, I would really like to see breeding and taming to be considered a viable profession and as something useful for other players.

Well. I say, since two classes have not been revealed yet, let one of those classes be a beast tamer. A beast tamer would basically allow players to capture monsters upon which they may train the monsters into combatants. These combatants could then be hired for mercenary work (i.e. transportation of merchandise from Node A to Node B, participation in castle sieges, fodder for potential coliseum-like areanas? (I.e. Think, Ancient Rome)
I digress but a coliseum could be a guild-oriented blueprint design that could influence a nodes development. Maybe even generate income by offering guild-crafted gear and gold as a means to entice players to participate. Maybe have a PvP arena element for those who have pvp blood running through their veins and a PvE element for those who likes to work as a team to overcome a challenge. Which leads back to being a beast tamer. Maybe a bunch of beast tamers work together to capture a dragon for their guild and node. Then said dragon, whom is trained to be even more powerful, along with other types of monsters and/or traps set up within the arena, are pitted against players. Those who fail add to the size of the jackpot which continues to rise until a champion and/or champions emerge. And of course, the house (i.e. the guild running the coliseum) will get a cut of the pot.

This idea is extremely bad because only 1 class would have a entire aspect of the game available to them that other classes dont not to mention balance issues aside from your bad idea to let them control a dragon as a companion with them at all time.

I think you should be able to breed War Horses. Offspring has variant appearances based on parents and same with stats. War Horses should give bonuses to mounted combat stats. The better the horse the better bonus. Keep it simple yet cool. I'm thinking Minecraft influence in some ways here. How cool was it in minecraft when you went out and used your lasso on a horse and you could breed them. Maybe every week X amount of wild horses spawn in the game which can be rounded up for War Horses. So the buffs for mounted combat that would be wired into a War Horse would be unique.

Say you round up two of the games wild horses. One has movement speed X and the other speed Y. X is faster but Y has better damage bonus, or better dismount stat. A dismount stat has a better chance to dismount your enemy from his mount :). A dodge stat helps avoid. Damage absorption helps absorb damage. Your war steed might be so well tempered your crit rating goes up. I am sure many more cool ideas can come out of this.

We need a Jousting Arena in every city :)
