  • I played a bit in college but since it was new to me (and we were all drinking :p ) I never really got the hang of it or picked up all the rules. I've always loved the fantasy genre though. Books, games, movies...I love it all.

I had a Kobold Beast Master Ranger, gave it up, became a Hob Goblin wild sorc, and then in the other game I was a paladin Aarakocra. Now that games ended and I'm gonna be a dwarf beast master from unearthed arcana

I know that feeling all to well. it is lucky that we have roll 20 to fill in the gap but it never beats real table top games

I've only played DnD once back in High school because a group was formed there. We basically got nothing done and I was so shy back then that even talking was difficult (I have mild Aspergers). Everyone in the group would focus on every individual detail in a room instead of taking the hint the GM was stating that doing anything after this was useless.

It reminds me of Critical Role like that time with the chair.. but 24/7. Sessions were about 3 hours averaged. I eventually lost interest and stopped coming.

However, I did awaken the biggest God in their game that was asleep with rolling a d100. :sunglasses:

All in all, what really got me into Ashes was the visual of how much mages could do (especially since the first trailer I saw was the mage showcasing) which led me to take a closer look. I fell in love with the Nodes system and how every little thing could lead to a change. It sounded so much nicer than the rigid forms that I got bored of playing (like WoW.. I was around 6 when I played on my father's account in his lap. They were a big guild called Perfect Storm I believe.)

Anyways, I really got into role playing back in 2014 for a tiny lil' game with a fan base over animals (wolves and lions specifically). So, seeing the extent for animal husbandry left me excited. It reminded me of my 2016 days of playing Archeage with a friend for hours on end, sailing on a tiny raft across the sea to get the mounts and pets over there without getting killed. It was an experience.

I am excited.. because of the potential, the possibilities, and my background.

Albeit, if I ever found a nice DnD guild.. I'm sure I'd take an interest even more into the game over different aspects. But, for now, It wasn't my true focus. It's a nice game and I'd enjoy playing it, though.

About eight years ago, I first played real D&D, and I was captivated by the mathematical component of the game, which was added to the already familiar character wagering and flight of fancy. And, of course, there were the rules created to create laws in the fictional world by which both players and wizards exist. By the way, in my first game, the wizard was Nikita, and it was a three-hour creation under the rules of the 3.5 edition - it was fun. I loved reading fantasy and sci-fi in high school, and somehow a book called "The Lord of the Rings" came into my hands... After reading Tolkien's books, there were evenings on the dialup internet and a theoretical introduction to role-playing in general - field and tabletop. Then, as if by order, a guy transferred to our class at school who knew what D&D was in practice and introduced me to https://dndguide.net/.

It would most likely be Pathfinder rather than D&D.
Since the original game was Pathfinder.

The DM for the D&D campaign I'm "currently" in has been to swamped with work to play for, I dunno, 4+ months.

Love DnD 💕 Mainly played 3.5 and aDnD. Rest in peace Gary Gygax and thank you for caffeine fueled nights, fighting over rulebook interpretations, Delarnas Tomb and many new friends.

I still play DnD, or did before covid. Not a fan of roll20 site. I love Pathfinder ruleset and the Path of War books, especially the Warlord class is so epic. I have also ran and played Warhammer Fantasy.

I will be honest, I am not a fan of full world revamps, so not really interested in Vera as a module. I always use the original worlds and just homebrew it as I see fit, hell, I dont even use modules at all xP

I have played D&D my entire life.

It is strange to see it so popular now after all these years.

If I had more time, I would write a shorter post.
  • Playing on and off since the early 90s; sometimes it's difficult to get a group together or keep a group together. Been playing again as of late and having fun. Would like to see Ashes world turned into a campaign setting book. I thought someone brought this up years ago but I've lost track of the official answer.
  • Wait... hold up... you are telling me their are other games BESIDES DnD!? No.... Impossible.

My longest running group is on a 10 year long campaign already. Varies by players and the game

    Sarcastic or not

There is quite a lot of them. Probably any popular game you heard about, it has a tabletop, fan made or not

I'm in currently 5 campaigns and doing the Tomb of Horrors. I like D&D. It's a really good game.
