People whom are flagged as afk should automatically dance to bard music, Badly

Thats right. We will be able to tell if someone is afk, because bards will ready check the raid by playing their buff song.

Those whom are AFK will awkwardly shuffle, thrust, and jive to the tune. Some unlucky souls will do the sprinkler, the nay nay, and of course the ultimate shame, the disco point and thrust.

Also if the bard messes up, the masses of people gathered will Boo, suggest they don't quit their day job, and of course say they know of a better bard, a bard that died in their last encounter with their own grandma.

A bard who plays perfect though gets some of their money.

Maybe, if the bard plays for a long time nearby NPCs could tip them a small amount of coin. Tips could scale with how well off the NPCs are.

I would imagine someone could macro an alt or something, but I'm not thinking of them getting significant money. Just something to thematically reward them for a performance.

I imagine a system of playing music to be a little button pressy not just press and go.

Sounds great. Now all characters near mages should go insane from the unrestrained power assulting their minds, resulting in them being knocked out and in my case having their souls played with until they return none the wiser c:

This sounds like something that is fun the first couple times. After that it seems more annoying since towns will always have people randomly dancing.

I understand the concern that a bunch of badly dancing afk PCs might be a bit of a buzz kill for your immersion into the game. I think, because playing music would hopefully be a bard only thing, and that bard's playing music randomly would only be a more RP thing, that you could set this to only be something that happens when a bard is in your party/raid, or if a bard is near a tavern, or an art feature where a street performer might gather for a performance.

You could also have it, with a system of diminishing returns, players whom have danced recently might get 'tired from dancing' debuffs and not want to dance until the debuff is over.

Also another thing to think about in regards to "will this fill my city/town with a bunch of dancing morons" are systems that are already common in MMOs typically the automatic booting of afk players out of the server once they afk for long enough.

I don't think that solves the problem, but I think it helps you maybe put in perspective exactly how annoying this potentially could be.

I think that makes it even less of a problem then.

Ready checks are an active raid leader kind of thing to need be done, and going through your buff cycle will be a bit less boring, if it has such a comical effect
