If travel is of utmost importance, and it's supposed to matter because no fast travel, should resources matter as well? If you're going in a journey, your inventory matters, but if you can bring along a stack of 200 potions, well, not so much. Mostly asking because for example in Skyrim, you would just pause the game and drink potions or food. In other games if you had some sort of ability to get away, you would temporally hide, pot, and get back into the battle. By no means I think this is bad strategy, but if you don't have a limit on the amount of potions, it seems... weird. I don't pretend to make the game super realistic, but I was just wondering, what are the downsides of having limits for consumables?

This has been mentioned in the past things like a miners backpack that is designed to carry more ore than adventuring gear, thus an adventurers pack to no doubt carry more gear. If they still intend to use such a system there is the possibility of several different types of backpacks and no doubt they will have limits as to the types and quantities of gear they can carry. We have seen potions depicted on belts perhaps that might be a limit as to how many you may have access to while in combat. Sure you may have more potions in your backpack but if it is not in a ready slot on your belt you have no access to it while in combat thus the limit.

Timer is good on the short term, but long term having 100 pots versus 10, does make a difference. For example a pot that cures poison. If you are doing open world PvP or let's say traveling to a place where people usually mine, and you're trying to kill them for their resources, having 100 Cure poison pots it's not the same as having 10. Not really a mini game about having to sell items every 20 kills, but about having limits on how much you can roam around. Well, I think that at least, I don''t know, it's more like a survival or PnP roleplaying game, but I like it
