What kind of player are you?

Do you prefer PvE or PvP? Or do you like both?

Answer here: https://strawpoll.com/djxahvjxa

Keep in mind, the two options, PvP with a little bit of PvE, and PvE with a little bit of PvP, are meant for those who have a CLEAR preference for either PvP or PvE, but don't mind a LITTLE bit of the other.

Also, keep in mind that the PvE option includes players who wish to focus more on their professions as well.

PvP only and PvE only options are meant for HARDCORE fans of either side, that cannot stand the other.

I like a "living" world so PvX is always going to win

  • I really enjoy PVE content, as long as it isn't repetitive, as in continually doing the same daily quest over and over and over for months on end. I also enjoy the option to PVP, but only when it has a bit of balance between the classes. Getting instantly one-shotted all over the map, all day, isn't my idea of fun when I have found a class I enjoy to play.

  • I engage more easily in PvE systems but at times it can get a little stale so I like to jump into PvP to spice things up a bit!

I like pve, structured pvp, and some unstructured pvp is ok when I am not questing
  • I like both, PvPvE.
At the end, it depends on a type of mmo Im playing.

I love Pve and PVP but only if I can play as a healer or support class. I am not a big fan of being a damage dealer. Since the game will offer large scale PVP I finally feel like I can be part of an MMO again. So many MMO's neglect support classes or dumb them down.

Ps: off topic - anyone knows if support classes ( heavy buffers or CC) will be relevant in Pve in ashes?

I love PvP with balanced stats soo much, and play different classes on it too. I would level up alts for it alone 100%

Gear based PvP is always pure garbage and I know this is what this game will focus on.

Steven said that gear would create a difference in power level of 40-50% or so. The remaining 60-50% will come from skill and level disparity.

Usually .. PvE will lure me in, but PvP will keep me playing.

a PvP player that usually picks stealth classes and usually stays stealth until I think I need to gank other PvPers.

But then I ask myself...if I don't really PvE and I am normally invisible... am I even a player?

Hahaha. Good one. At that point you have to ask yourself, do you even exist?

TBH i'm more into the crafting aspect of the game, but have more xp in PVE then PVP.
The PVP aspect i'm interested in are the group pvp as i almost always play as a support/healer/pet class

It is better in a PvX game than it would be in a PvP Game where you have to unlock PvP Gear. You could visit a crafter and get your Armour in a PvX game, you would have to level PvP Levels to unlock PvP Gear in a PvP Game. I appreciate your fears but in effect everyone is working towards PvX Gear. It won't be as bad as it sounds on paper.

  • I can enjoy both sides as long as I got mates with me.
I've been out of the mmorpg racket for a while, but the only reason I'm contemplating a return is the idea of chasing a long term goal with friends, that and some backstab-y free-form politics a la Lineage2.

I'm very much looking forward to the PvX style of play. In the 20+ years of playing MMOs i've mainly done PvE. Really looking forward to see how I can play as a Wood Elf ranger/scout :)

Isn't a wood elf a druid? Or am i missing some kind of a dirty joke here?

I love Lore and PvE. I PvP with buddies, but i don't like PvP with a bunch of randoms who stand around and watch. I prefer to build a story with my toons, not run in circles killing other players. It takes a good group of people to drag me into PvP frequently. I will do PvE content for the entirety of the game if not needed as support.

Big time PVE based but love what they are wanting to do with PVP.

Both but at the end of the day fighting players is more exciting.

Love the battlegrounds, arenas, etc. Like to do a dungeon maybe once or twice, then it gets old. NOT a fan of raiding, hate it actually.
    Love the pvx.
Exploring is the thing I like the best.
  • I literally just want to make a full support Bard (first and second class), master cooking, buy property outside of a Node and open an Inn, making food for all the hungry adventurers out there and sometimes join a raid group to look for exotic cooking ingredients...
  • I hate doing pvp in MMORPG. I only do it in shooters like Battlefield and mobas.

    So yeah, I'm a pve-only player.

Played wow on and off since vanilla. In 15 years I did maybe 20 times bg and 5-6 arenas. And those were mainly for some quest like a legendary cloak in Pandaria.

    Hate pvp.

i used to be a pvp player in wow. then they screwed that up imo so i moved to pve. but with this game and its different systems and all the possibilities its hard to point what kind of player i will be.

maybe creating a mercs. guild and becoming help for hire? Or go to the dark side and be the one hunting the caravans? Maybe having a social guild and focus on becoming mayor and then setting all my energy into keeping the city safe and developing it into a super state? maybe an economic city with ties to a military one to help out in terms of resources in exchange for protection?

like shit. endless possibilities. have to decide pre launch.

I'm often Player 1 but if I get a good partner, I'd considered becoming Player 2.
