Quick question on the pre order mounts

I heard the preorder mounts are classified in tiers, and for example i can put a snail looking mount on a horse as long as its the same tier.. is there any truth to this or do I actually need a snail mount.

Comments

  • You need to unlock the mount in game first. Only then can you buy/use a skin for it. This applies to each mount individually. So you have to get the snail mount in order to apply the skin for it.

Yes, the mounts come in tiers. Unfortunately, we do not know what mounts are in what tiers at this time.

Flying mounts, for example, are the highest tier. To apply a skin of a bird to a mount, you first need to obtain a mount of said tier.

    Short answer, yes.

Not true. If the snail is a tier 1 mount, every single tier 1 skin can be applied to it (horse, tiger, etc). Check wiki page for mounts for proof.

Are you sure about this? Steven said that you would have to earn the mounts in game in order to apply the skins for it. Check interview with tim.

    Steven addressed this already.

As long as you have the "type" mount needed to apply the skin you can apply the skin to that mount.

Now each mount will then need to have the skin applied to that specific tier, and the skin removed off of the previous mount tier. But the skin is universal. You just cant have the same "skin" on every tiered animal mount.

So if you get a horse, and the snail costume is the same tier as that horse, you can apply the snail skin to the horse? That's odd.

    Yes.
Think of it more like applying a skin to the tier and not to the horse, it's essentially a new mount but just an application on the tier and replaces the horse.
