Node and its' vassals during war time

I asked a question in the AoC discord regarding replayability in the sense of unlocking new content. The easiest way I figure that would work, would be if a vassal node could declare war on its' liege node to unlock new content. Now I realise that this would essentially remove access to certain benefits of being a vassal of said liege node. If citizens of a certain node feel that this would be appropriate in order to unlock new content, those sacrifices would have to be made.

At https://ashes101.com/nodes it states the following:
Also inside the Vassal system are bound diplomatic relations. Earlier it was mentioned that a Mayor has the ability to declare war on other Nodes, yet inside the Vassal system there are limitations on this. First, a Mayor may not declare war on its Parent Node or any of its Parent’s Vassals. Note, this only applies to the Node War mechanic not the Node Siege mechanic. The differences of these two systems are detailed in the PvP Chapter.

Vassal Nodes do not inherit the open world flag status from their Parent’s wars. Additionally, while Nodes are free to engage in their own diplomatic relations, a Vassal Node may not open up a trade agreement with any Node that is in a hostile or war state with its Parent Node.

I was unable to get a clear answer if your diplomatic alliance lock to your liege node includes a military alliance, as it states that you as a vassal will not inherit the open world flag status from your liege node. In the questions channel, myself along with a few other people went a little back and forth regarding how this would essentially play out seeing that you would as a citizen of a vassal node may not have the option to contribute to either defend your liege node or attack it if you would want to reset that node so your node can progress.

Can anyone clarify how this will work?

  • Sieges can result in the nodes destruction forcing them to give up their zone of influence.

If you are already a vassal and your parent node were to be destroyed they would no longer be your parent node. This would allow all the nodes in its area to level up and get a shot a being the new parent.

Oh and, there's nothing to prevent you from joining a siege. Or from raiding supply chains in and out of the node.

Corruption won't apply in these systems.

If you live in a vassal node (but aren’t a citizen of it), you may participate in a siege against the parent node. However, a citizen of a vassal node cannot engage in a siege again the parent node.

We don’t know enough about caravans to know if we can attack parent nodes’ caravans as citizens of a vassal though.
