QOTD: What minigames would you like to see in AoC?

sorry for the massive delay on the QOTD daily post, thought i posted it yesterday but it seems my page had frozen when i had pressed post discussion and i never noticed.... my bad!

today i would love to know what minigames YOU would like to see in AoC.
would you like to see minigames that enhance the overall experience of the game? or would you like a minigame thats completely different and gives you a break from the main game to prevent burnout?

What ever mini-games there are, I would like the capacity to watch in real time what players are playing. ie if they are playing a card game at a table or a chess game, then we can observe

This is actually a much needed feature, specifically because:

makes minigame tournaments more viable.
sucks to be the third wheel of an intense 2-player minigame in your headphones but all you can do is twiddle your thumbs in-game while you imagine what's happening.
difficult to learn from pros.

admittedly, it's not a high priority feature though.

I second that, would be very cool to spectate in real time, and wager on different mini-games/events. I think its more immersive to be able to spectate from you actual character's point if view (like watching the tiny pieces on the board move while the characters are next to it) but there are also benefits to having an instanced camera view of the action as well.

So maybe have the option to both view from an instanced or in-game perspective would be neat for different mini-games and events like arena duels. Like you said though, probably not high-priority, but would be cool.

I would like a card game to play in the Tavern, but I am a bit biased on that one. Other than that I would like some kind of sport that could be played in a stadium building. I had a lot of fun playing Kegbrawl in GW2 when it came out. Does not have to be too complicated or anything.

Happy Families and Snap would be rather cool for card games.

I'd love to see all sorts. From ingame obstacle courses to things like gatcha machines or gallery shooting or using your skills to move objects into goals. I'd like to see things like labyrinths and card games, chess. I'd also love it if towns could have a "league sport" once a week that citizens can opt into and people can bet on the matches.

I like the previously proposed Gwent-like card-game idea and have some further improvements on the concept.

By visiting the prominent taverns in each node, players can purchase unique cards related to the lore and NPC characters/mobs/bosses of that specific node.
If the node is not developed to, say, level 4 (or whatever level is needed for a tavern or inn) in one server, the players will not receive the unique cards from that node.
If a node loses a siege and de-levels to level 3, for instance, these unique cards from that node become unavailable. This way, some cards are rarer than others, and each server has its own rare and common cards based on node levels.
Periodic tournaments in some higher-level (level 6) nodes that invite ranked players from all across Verra with special awards and renown.

Further Suggestion: These cards cannot be sold or traded in person or at auction houses.

Each player is encouraged to travel and find these cards at their own peril.
If a level node 4 is scheduled to be sieged and may lose its tavern or inn, there will be an influx of players visiting that node to not miss the unique card from the tavern/inn in that node.
Balancing the cards so no unique card is too overpowered carries a bigger importance if this suggestion is followed.

Runic-based puzzles and ciphers, etched on tablets that have been shattered and cast across the world of Verra. General collectibles to encourage exploration, once enough shards needed to piece a tablet back together are collected, the tablet reveals a cryptic cipher using either an already established key from existing ciphers or one particular to Ashes Of Creation. The messages reveal the location of treasures, POI's, exposition and PvE encounters.

Got some ideas-

1. A mini-game around potion effects, where the player can makd drastic changes to themselves (growth potions, transformations, floating, etc.) In order to accomplish wacky tasks or fight each other in a battle full of tricky suprises.

2. Love the idea of a labyrinths/mazes

3. Love the idea of races, I think their should be a massive race with different obstacles and challenges across a variety of terrains, and lots of tools to deal with them and other players, like mounts or potion effects.

4. I offered the idea in the past about an "arena fantasy league" where its about managing your squad of real players to get the best results in arena pvp tournaments, so you would draft other pvp players, kind of like a "fantasy football" league, and compete against other players fantasy teams for rewards or being able to wager on different teams, and for a spot on a ranked leaderboard. This could extend beyond players killing other players, and be available for any kind of player competitions, including ranked pve.

The drafting process could be more involved than just picking from a pool of players who entered the tournament. Maybe you have to convince other players to join your fantasy team, to add a political/social layer on top of the management aspects.

5. Artisan challenges would be cool, where artisan masters can come together to compete or do cooperative tasks, maybe to the benefit of the node/guild in the area.

6. "Hidden role" social mini-games- like maybe the benefit of owning a mansion is access to a murder mystery mini game if you have a group of players, and there are different trap doors, secret routes depending on how the owner sets it up- kind of like "among us"- or even a PVE based one where you have to work cooperatively to solve the mystery that changes each time you play it.

7. an escape room mini game, similar to the above, in that it could be a designated person/or auto generated- where the stage is set with hidden clues for the other players in a room, and they have to work together to figure out how to get out

8. Archery games using the action targeting projectile system

9. A "parkour" type mini-game using jumps/climbing/timing/spacial reasoning/etc.

10. A race to hunt down hidden treasure- this sounds like it could be really fun if there are secret treasures placed by real players/auto-generated, and players are in a race to hunt around verra to discover the treasures and bring it back to a location.

13. "Coralling" mini-game- to make use of the complex npc behaviors, where players have to manipulate the npc animals into an area like a herd of cattle

Horse racing, jumping puzzles, archery target tournaments, swimming obstacles/races to reach a special loot source for the week. Little arenas where you can challenge someone to a duel as others watch and marvel. Lists of items you must find in that zone within a time limit for some treasure or reward.

I would like a mini turn based AoC political game which would be played between nodes.
Each node would see the same map and own a ZoI
Each ZoI would have a few citizens, one of each relevant type.
Each player could vote some action and once per day a turn would be played by all nodes at the same time.

And I would like this mini-game to be played on forum as well, while we wait for the real game to launch.

I'm pretty much on board with what most people are sharing in this thread. I just want the ability to sit in the pub and play games at the table. Either card games, tic tac toe, chess, checkers, or purely uniquely AoC mini-games. So long as they're chill enough to let me chit-chat with the person I'm playing with or engage in conversations with the other pub attendees, I'll be pleased.

I kinda wanna see a card/deck building game tbh because you could also expand this into the world where u can get cards for doing certain thing in the world of finding them in locations and so on, so you can find cards during exploration in the world to add to your deck and so i would prefer this location = this card or this acheivement = this card over a RNG booster pack kinda system though.

Various boardgames would be nice too tbh if they can get them in the game, like i thin ka game like splendor would work well since thats a merchant kinda game too so it suits the game asthetics too
