General player Stats

It is been said in AoC wiki that weapons will contribute 40-50% of player stats. I wonder if we will earn skill points to upgrade individual stats or not. For me personally, It would be great if one could use stat points to upgrade stats(with player lvl cap). I am guess that's how it is.

I think if WoW's original talent trees are anything to go by, just having talents that increase x skill by y% is pretty boring gameplay as it becomes a must-take talent. Talents should be choices and situational. One will always be best in most circumstances it will get mathed out, however I would like to think they will design talents etc. to be more along the lines of:

add new effect to skill, IN ADDITION to x% dmg increase. Just to keep things interesting. Or maybe remove an effect i.e. ability no longer slows but does 40% more damage. Good static damage but reduce your ability to peel and stick to a target.

By talent I am guessing you mean "skills". I am talking about "stats". I do agree about your point on skills thou as it will give more versatile gameplay.
