Having followed a lot of ambitious game dev projects in the past, I'd say late 2023 to mid 2024 is a safe bet.

Does announcing a date magically make a game take less time to make?

obviously no, but Alpha testing does.

We ask the devs this question a lot but almost all of the classes will have their class reveal in the monthly streams first, if not all of them, and the first one (Ranger) is next month.

I'd say A2 will def happen mid next year (2023). 100% of this.

What's the point of continually asking? If we knew and if they knew, we'd already have the announcement.

These threads only take up space on the front page.

How? How does it make it take less time to design, develop, implement and iterate things that need done?
Most people never listen. They are just waiting on you to quit making noise so they can.

because testing causes devs to focus attention where it is needed.

Tonight, Steven mentioned completing a milestone. I've seen several videos of him describing alpha 1, 2 and beta 1, 2 as milestones. He proceeded to mention A2 four times throughout the stream. Just A observation.

As a developer, you're 100% incorrect. Testing causes JIRAs to be created when bugs are found, which will then be focused at some point in the future, unless they're critical.

Developers focus their attention on wherever their leader says it's needed, no matter if there's testing going on or not. And, obviously, there is always some level of testing going on. Do you think we will be the first people to play the Alpha 2 version of the game? There are probably people in Intrepid with over 100 hours of "gameplay", lmao.

Last but not least, like any software project without a deadline, if they don't announce a date is because they don't feel safe to do it. Ashes has had enough PR problems, announcing dates they can't meet is one they definitely don't want to have. A roadmap, however, is something they should tell us. You don't need dates in a roadmap, only goals.
