Scoreboards

There are several different types of organized conflict in Ashes: castle sieges, node sieges, arenas, guild wars, etc.

What metrics do you guys think should be followed on the scoreboards for these events?
I asked this question in a roundabout way earlier and initial impressions were that people did not want scoreboards at all. If you feel that way, why? But if you do want scoreboards, which metrics are important to you and why?

I could potentially see end of scenario results for node sieges and what not but I'm not sure going too in-depth is a good idea because of how people become quite toxic with data and metrics regardless if it's account wide, server wide or character specific.

The arena would probably have some sort of competitive scoreboard but what that actually translates to could vary with its weight and worth in-game.

IIRC, there is some goal for metrics but they don't always reflect the player. For example, I've seen players with negative KDR's destroy players with positive KDR's. It all comes down to experience and situations.

I never cared about them, unless there is a specific reason and reward behind winning, in a certain timeframe.
In L2 olympiad every month players would fight random 1v1 instanced duels after registering and queueing.
At the end of the month, each player with the most points from each class (30 or so) would become a hero, with access to hero skills, hero weapons, a global /chat and access to a unique vendor.

In there the scoreboard was needed to track your progress and see whether you needed to keep compiting to farm more points, or if you were ahead in a safe spot.
Many felt safe and stop dueling, only to wake up the next day and find their rival surpassing them.

Other than that I havent seen any examples of ideas for scoreboard that werent just for vanity (or for "honoring") first server attempts.

I like the idea of scoreboards for pretty much almost everything. I think it's a valid incentive, and a way to reward your effort and commitment.

I loved playing L2 pirates and seeing the efforts of our guild, our friends and our own efforts.

This vanity thing is not a valid argument. What's the fun in playing, making a lot of content, and not having any control, no index of what you've done?

It's up to everyone to have the nerve to position themselves at the top of the scoreboards. I believe it is more beneficial for everything I mentioned than harmful for just certain vanities.

That's my opinion at least.

i like them but at the same time, i dont. its easy to misjudge who is a good player. also, stat padding

A lot of the content is objective based.

The rating in Arena doesn't reflect the capability of open world PvP or sieges as many of those situations are never 1 to 1 in terms of player count and balance. You could end up fighting groups of different synergy and player counts to the point of escalation where it's non-comprehendible in terms of balance and fair gameplay.

example:
an open world encounter may start off as a 5v6, reinforcements show up could be a 15 vs 23 and escalate to a 50 vs 70 with all sorts of different archetypes.

Node siege may be 250 vs 250 but other variables like objectives, environmental advantages, monsters and archetype balance is up to to the event and those who partake before we even get into gear.

Scores are all subjective and do not reflect a true representation of a players potential.

I think i'd like to see one type maybe.

For the defenders, in the event of a loss, there could be a casualties kind of scoreboard, like, who's freehold was pillaged, or who's guildhall was destroyed or whatever. It could come as a message to the previous vassals of the destroyed node. People might want to know who of their customers or other shops they frequent or stuff like that got hurt.

I think i'd like to see one type maybe.

Totally agree. Scoreboards can be there for the people who want them and ignored by those who don’t care.
