A plea to humanity

Can we not promote racism in Ashes of Creation?
I am utterly appalled that I even have to bring this up for discussion.

How about no?
Here is my plea to creativity. Be fearless. Real racists get what they deserve. Real criminals get what they deserve. No sane person would get offended by racism in a fantasy world in which mobs, npcs, players attack each other with weapons and kill them.
Don't be apologetic towards this insanity.
I honestly don't even know how or why one would jump to a conclusion of racism based off such a vague description logically..
Look at a lot of fantasy IP's using LOTR as a single example. Dwarves and elves don't like each other but it made for a comical interaction between Legolas and Gimli's character development. Conflict exists regardless of context in many stories through diversities.
Let's not turn this into a political trashcan.
In ESO, I'm a Vampire. When I talk to other vampires, they recognise me as such, and the quest dialogue is ever-so-slightly adapted to account for it.
Instead of something like: "You probably didn't know, but vampires are hunted quite harshly around these parts."
It'd be something like: "As you know, vampires are hunted quite harshly around these parts."
Just relax and wait to see how it's done in Alpha-2. If there's a problem at that point, then we as a playerbase can address it to Intrepid.
How about approaching the winter dragon in a friendly manner?
You mean they should stop assets for humans, elves, dwarves, and orcs and go Tulnar only?
I don't think Ashes would sell very well and I'm 100% Tulnar.
NPCs in Ashes:
"Greetings, child of the Forest, how may I help you?"
"Greetings, child of the Mountains, how may I help you?"
Niem:
"How... DARE you?!"
Different treatment does not mean difference in respect.
thats not racist bruh.
One could literally have controversies about anything in a fantasy game such as claiming thigs like:
- cutting down tree is deforestation
- all elf guilds are racists (or any all one race guild)
- anyone with a predominately red flag is specifically an evil communist
- taming/breeding pets and mounts is non-ethical
- violence is bad, we should do sieges by giving compliments, remove anything that can be used a weapon
Seems like a personal agenda to me but I hope that's not the case.
and in the tulnars eyes every other race are invader scum
Aren't we all sinners?
Are you insinuating that showing racism in action is like promoting it?
What promotes racism is to invisibilize it, to not talk about it nor show it.
The example was cited above, but the most openly anti-racist literary I have read in the fantasy register is The Witcher, in which racism is omnipresent, and even has a major impact on the plot.
Xenophobia is unfortunately inherent in our world, and showing it as it is helps raise awareness of its absurdity
People don’t laugh because they condone racism. They laugh because you’re off topic. In short, you are offended for a supposed apology of racism, which is not.
Several arguments have been put forward to explain it to you, but you are offended rather than trying to debate it. Your intention is commendable, but misplaced
