Having LFG would be fine

I saw a video put out by LoreForged, link at bottom, about why LFG's would be bad for the game and normally I would agree, at least with how Jibbs puts it. He basically just talks about WoW and FF14's version of LFG which is bad for what AoC is doing and that is 100% correct, but, that doesn't mean LFG can't be re-imagined in a way that is fitting for this game. I would think having a regional board for looking for parties that can be posted up by anybody. Maybe even have aesthetic changed depending on number of postings. There is no teleporting or anything like that but somewhere in a central location a lot of people would be anyway like around a marketplace in a node city. From there everyone would meetup and adventure out from town together. I just think this would clear up much of the clutter in chat for people looking for parties or raids but also add an immersive setting for people to naturally meet and hopefully make friends. Tell me what you guys think?

Bulletin boards are already a planned feature

The bulletin boards don't have any direct postings for anyone looking for a group. It just explains what items are being sold at player stalls and the mayor can put out job postings. I'm talking about a place, in the same location as the bulletin board maybe, where people can more easily make and find parties for the activities they wish to do that day.

WoW had channels. /join lookingforgroup was a thing.

What people don't want is a game system where you click join, and it auto pairs you into a party and sends you into a dungeon.

Making parties/joining parties should involve some sort of interaction with the other players.

I am totally ok with a in game menu that you have to open, and see advertisements of LFG for content. I would like if you can do this from anywhere even. Helps people find people, and you can message party leaders if your build doesnt quite fit what they want, but maybe is close enough. Gets people talking even.

I don't really want to see a auto join queue feature to send the character into a instanced dungeon of daily repeatable content. Stuff like this is where the long term negatives in MMOs begin, starting with toxicity to players not performing well enough to someones expectations of wanting fast runs every day.

Would have to agree with an LFG option/list, but I do like that we won't have a queue-for-content system. It still might *become* a good option for lower-pop servers, but at least the plan is to launch without them.

My personal preference would be to have BBs in Taverns where you can post LFG, thus making Taverns populated and full of chatting and planning.
Of course, one could also Yell 'LFG' for those in range of your voice or you could park your butt at a dungeon entrance and be available there.

In other words, just like the game plans now.

Global channels should exist for those that want to use it, with the correct filters. People should be able to communicate with each other to balance out the fact you can't just randomly join parties. Even more so since this is a group focused game.

We WILL be able to use custom channels. Yours truly doesn't see anything wrong with this, as it's something players can OPT to use, rather than being a built-in game mechanic. Remember the rule about gaming that Jeffrey Bard had once quoted us: If a game doesn't include a specific function, then players will figure out a way to emulate it. Discords are a good example of this, though there will be built-in guild voice-chats, in AoC.

It's really no different than standing in a tavern and shouting about "LFG for this-or-that dungeon", as it's still group self-building, rather than a queue-system.

Should use Everquest /lfg on system :P

It basicly just put a LFG tag next to your name plate and you could do /who LFG and it pop up all players with LFG tag up (This can be done at bulletin board where it displays everyone who has LFG tag on within x distance of the node

@Taerrik and @Tyranthraxus : You both replied to me with good points which I had not properly considered. I will withdraw my objection and only state that I hope the LFG channel will be short-ranged rather than worldwide.

Just because I might prefer finding groups in taverns does not mean that everyone should be forced into that model.

Wrong Diablo 4 says hi. Ruined any sense of community with the game and forced all interactions on discord.

It is always a weak point when people say toxicity which is opinion based should ensure people can't talk to each other. MMorpgs are about communities and people interacting, anyone trying to suppress that will fail and doesn't understand with all good there is bad, all bad there is good. Some bad shouldn't be a reason to stop people from communicating.

End of the day people that dislike certain chats should have full ability to turn them off and allow people that want to use it to do so. But as usual everyone is selfish wanting their desires forced on others, being ignorant of the damage it would cause on a larger scope with a game that is heavily about working in groups.

Leading to 1 of two things, peoples frustrations of lack of communication and finding a group that works well for them in game leading them to stop playing (this effects the casual audience a lot more cutting at the numbers and growing frustration and louder voices. Leading to people wanting automatic group findings, instances content, less pvp, more solo content, etc.).

Discord servers with people controlling them and ruining the experience for certain people or whole guild, using advantage of discords for power, zerg guilds and strong guilds always being in power without competition, Everyone forced to use discord to communicate making in game chat a ghost town no one cares about.

No global chat doesn't make people work together even more that is the biggest joke of a statement. Having more chats and more access to more people means more people to talk and do content with, means people working together doing more content, meaning people are working together more.

You without variations of chat (access to more people) ,you are easy pickings for pk players, no one will hear your cries for help. Submit or be destroyed. Moment people feel helpless and frustrated, it leads to people quitting.
