I well aware that land area of the map is 720 sq km[ if am correct] but is the ratio in game as the player experiences the map in game relative to other games

from the wiki : 1,200 km2 (square kilometers) is the expected total world size of Verra at launch, including land (480 km2) and water/ocean (750 km2), but excluding the size of the Underrealm.[1]

  • Map size is relative but would that be via a players perception in game

480 km2 is about 185 sq. miles land mass (for my USA mindset), so not the biggest plot of land but still quite a lot of walking distance broken up by large swaths of ocean

I agree with op, saying the map is a certain size does not tell the whole story. We also have to account for player speed as well. Intrepid gave a measurement about how long it would take to walk from one side of the map to the other, but I forget that measurement and if it was related to before or after they increased the map size. I think the map will be in a good state in reference to size, I expect it to feel like the biggest map in any MMO to date. Of course we will see in Alpha 2 and provide feedback, but feedback was already provided in Alpha 1, which the map was then expanded afterwards, so I don't expect there to be any necessary changes.
