PLEASE be different from WoW/WoW-clones - don't call them "recipes"! BOO!

I *get* that it's in the gaming vernacular - but can't we PLEASE call them something else, for AoC?

"Schematics", "blueprints", "patterns" - ANYTHING else, please!

Sorry to have posted about this multiple times, but I heard them referred to as "recipes" in the latest update video. Am always happy to ask to have this particular terminology changed.

cooking schematics, cooking blueprints, cooking patterns :D:D:D

i guess recipes were just a general name, and each profession will have their own term
  • Could be crafting "process" or "procedure".
The game should not call it anyway.
What we use to read and learn the process could be a book or scroll.

I don't think you need to worry, Ashes will definitely go all the way back to the pre-WoW days of EQ and FFXI where they were called...

    Recipes.

    Oh.

Eh, the generic "recipe" is fine. I am pretty sure we'll get "schematic" and/or "blueprint" as well.

I know WoW was the first MMO, and all MMOs since then are heavily influenced by it. It's a bit like when Tolkien created the first fantasy universe in in the world with Middle Earth and invented the orcs and elves and dwarves, and now we see them everywhere! But I think it's ok.

It's not like they are naming one of the archetypes "tank" or anything like that. Haha! Can you imagine? Now that would be silly!

Aye, it fits for cooking schems.

Right. No - not trying to say that.

Technically, I think Neverwinter Nights was the first MMO, back in the 90's. Had the pleasure of playing it, for an all-too-short period of time - but I know what you mean. Ah, the days of 2D DnD games....

And just you be careful! We don't need you triggering yet another "tank-alanche" storm of Tank-name posts....

Guess which other game also uses recipes? Oh yeah Lineage 2 which is older than WoW. :D

I'm fairly sure players will just call them recipies regardless of what Intrepid call them.

Reality is, the practical aspect of what you do to craft (collect specific components and combine them in a specific manner with specific equipment) describes a recipe, not a blueprint, schematic or anything else.

Oh, I wasn't being serious about WoW or Tolkien being first at all. Like with most people that are creative, they stood on the shoulders of those before them, and uhm.. borrowed heavily

I don't even really care about the Tank name.

I would be fine with different names for different categories, but "recipe" fits the cooking and alchemy category at least.

    Recipe for something consumable.

Pattern for something worn or wielded.

Blueprint for a structure or anything mechanical.

Simple but allows for some distinction.
The girl watched the last of the creatures die and murmured a soft 'Thank you' to her rescuer.

The stranger's eyes lifted to the blood red cloud on the horizon.

'We have to move. It's not safe here.'

While i never played any other MMO than WoW - and have absolutely no Idea what "EQ" is,

yes i can agree that many WoW-Players get angry over the most ridiculous Reasons all the time. At least when other VideoGames are involved and they think that someone is trashtalking their Addiction called WoW.

EverQuest (EQ) was one of the preeminent granddaddy MMOs' , pre-dating WoW which subsequently out-surpassed it in popularity.

There is also a EverQuest 2, both games still have active servers and are still available to play.

    agreed
PvE means: A handful of coins and a bag of boredom.
  • I'm impartial for having specific or universal naming across the different artisan classes.

  • Obtaining a recipe to craft something is BS. Could do it like EQ did and put the material lists in books that you don't have to consume.

Or, you could make any "recipe" ultra rare so that you have to go to the individual that ate the recipe to learn how to craft the item.
