Current(?) Worldmap of Verra

I saw a few different Versions from around back in 2020 and the likes.

This is here is the current Worldmap i assume ?

While it is a Fantasy-World of Course, i can not miss to see, how the flow of Climate regarding the Bio's makes partially no Sense. For Example the cold Area,

- The Frostgrave Fells
and the huge Island to the Northern Left(West) in the Map, - Sujoma

are both covered in Ice. In a cold Climate around and beneath the freezing Point, right ? But the Island - Draakathbohr , which is between these two Area's,
is not covered even in the slightest in Snow and Ice at all.

The "somewhat" small and cozy-looking Island in the Middle between the two great Landmasses however is. At least the somewhat small Mountains there look covered in Snow.

Same as the Region southern from the Frostgrave Fells. While the Kaela Riverlands from the Presentations look all fine and beautiful,
i have especially an Eye for this "snowy Forest-Type (?) of Area" - and the Frostgrave Fells northern from them.

Which Area's on the current (?) Version of the Worldmap of Verra are Your Favourites ?

Which Biomes and Area's would you like to visit ? The Desert ? The mysterious-looking Mountain Regions with the Clouds ? The more Forest- and Jungle-like Regions ?

I personally am curious about the " Dünzenkell Mountains " as well - since they give me the Expression of a "Grand Canyon"-kind of Area and Mountain Range. ((Which i think is one of the most beautiful Area's on our Reallife Planet))

* sigh * so many awesome-seeming Area's on the Worldmap and no great, visual Representations of these current Days around ... ... ... ... ... such a tease. Luckily there are the Presentations which were already shown in the Past.

And we haven't even seen any Underground (Underdark? hehe) Footage yet. Aside from that ONE Screenshot with the glowy Crystals and some Buildings in the Distance ... ... ^.^

Would be interesting to see a more 3D textured world map.

But it does feel like the scale of some zones do not quite fit the projected goal regardless of biome flow. Even if it's more tropically geocentric the mountainous ranges regardless of assumed wind currents don't really line up. Air currents and elevation usually dictate the biomes allowances with weather conditions. Micro climates, seasons, air currents, ocean temperatures etc

Maybe I'm just over thinking the currents and meteorology of it. lol

Could not disagree more with this. I literally couldn't care less about the positioning of biomes, I just want for the transitions between areas to make sense and for the world to be packed to the brim with stuff to do. I can't stand when games advertise having large gameable areas and it's just huge swathes of dead space.

Hundreds of creatures, dozens of gatherables, world bosses, dungeons (from solo to raid sized), POI's, collectables, lore dumps, puzzles, riddles, quests, nodes, towns, NPC villages, buildings, events. I want Verra to be bursting with life and content.

Aye - but only if players can change the landscape. It's one of the elements I relate to SWG. Sure, there was a LOT of open-space - but it was open so that player-cities and settlements could fill it.

I hope AoC follows a similar path: LOTS of open space, but it's space that Freeholds and player-cities can expand into.

Myself I think the scope of the playable space at lunch is to much. I think it should be cut is 1/2. One half for lunch and the other half as expansions.

Did you watch the video where Steven explained the increase in world size? @nanfoodle
When he said there wasn't enough room to breathe and given the most terrain increase was the ocean size then there wasn't enough space for navel content and oceans to be felt like oceans and not a lake or a river...

Also, they rearranged quite a bit of the biome structure, the elven woods got bigger, etc.
We won't know if it is too big until we play in a full-sized and content-filled Verra.

None the less WoW launched with about 200 square km. I do get UE5 speeds up world building but you still need to fill the area with content. I know I have ready said this but Starfiled's big fail was not the game but the lack of points of interests. I'm not saying it does not need to be added at some point but how much of it is needed to make a real game at launch?

I was more talking about the visuals rather than things to do as I understand the importance of having POI's in the world. But most games I've played don't have much OPEN landscape, it's cluttered with things (trees, ruins) everywhere.

Personally I don't like when cities and villages are blending together because of lack of distance between them. You can still add in everything in between you mentioned. World bosses, puzzles, lore dumps, collectables, other POI's.

I remember initially thinking SWG was a bit like this, too; Probably a lot of open-world games feel this way. However, as the game fills out, we'll be able to better identify the build/no-build zones. There will be reserved space for things like city-limit expansions as the Node-cities grow, and for POI's - but keep in mind we're going to need a LOT of space for players to place/build their Freeholds. Freeholds are supposed to be able to be placed just about anywhere that's not a POI/reserved city-space.

To visit Tatooine in SWG: Legends is still a vast experience - but as much open space as there was at launch, you can barely go anywhere without seeing player-structures. I highly suspect we'll experience a very similar thing with AoC. It's nice to have un-obstructed vistas and scenic locations, without clutter.

Yours truly isn't someone who would be bothered by a lot of open space - at least in a MMO. I can't imagine it works well in single-player games, though.

Ya I also love exploring its one of my biggest drives in gaming. I'm just itching to play Ashes, if polished I could be happy with 600 square Km with more to come if I got to play in a year
