I could imagine Players to be able to get/build Rowboats for Rivers, later on. Assuming of Course, they have a Node nearby where they can get the needed Help, Blueprints, Materials, etc.

Yeah that would be cool. Or a harbor POI being near a node on or next to a big big river.
  • Who knew that boat caravans would go faster on river currents similarly to roads for the land caravans.

  • Hopefully he means larger vessels and that specific river. If you look at the World Map there are clearly some large waterways that should be accessible to ALL kinds of ships. If opposing parties have no way of getting to a caravan in the water other than water mounts (which some may not have), it takes away most of the risk and is more of a safe passageway. It also appears to be much faster than traveling on the road.

Yeah... I really don't like this. Sitting off the edge of the shore in my fishing dinghy while moderately sized trade ships, caravan rafts, and other personal vessels pass me by is a huge player fantasy. I can understand some size restrictions depending on the river, but on a river of the size they showed in the livestream, I should be able to at least take my fishing dinghy or 6-person sailboat out there, and there's almost certainly room for a moderately sized sea-faring vessel to pass by another ship out there.

Maybe there could be like... three different size-class allowances depending on the width of the river, and somehow the ship-master's map is marked with the allowance needed to enter each river so that they can make a plan for their voyage. Class 1 could be dinghies and small sailboats (3-ish people), Class 2 could add in caravan rafts, medium sailboats (6-ish people), and cogs, and Class 3 could include caravels and carracks. Galley and galleass sized ships should be excluded from riverways.

At the very least, I'd like to hear their justifications for decisions like this so that we can actually have an educated conversation about it instead of scratching our heads wondering why Steven decided to bring the big sad.
