What primary archetype would be the "Dot" archetype, if any?
Sathrago
Im curious what you guys think about this as normally in mmos you have specific classes that focus on DoT gameplay. Or do we think there will be combinations that create a Dot focused class? So far isn't the fighter's rupture the only dot we have seen? I might be wrong on that, so lmk.
Edit: Actually rupture is not a DoT either lol. Just realized that

I think rogue would be it and its augments would provide some dotness to others.

Probably rogue / mage... which is (looking up matrix...) Nightspell or Shadowcaster. Sounds like a Shadow Priest or Affiction Warlock for those goofy WoW players out there. The class fantasy would seem to align.
Edit: when I say DoT, I tend to think of spell (magic) damage, versus bleeds (physical damage). But, yes, a Rogue which might involve poisons would probably count as "magic" damage and likely add DoT effects to many of the base archetypes which deal magic damage, and certainly bleed effects the Fighter or Ranger.

I guess thats the only one that could reasonably be it from a single archetype standpoint since mage doesnt seem to have any built in dots either. Maybe,

bard? Then who knows with summoner, right? Depends on how you spin the flavor, you could summon a swarm of bugs to devour someone over time or a dissonant reverberation of noises that tear away at them.

Rogue - Assassination bleeds/poisons spec
Warlock - Affliction shadow DOTs/curses spec
Priest - Shadow drains/channels and shadow DOTs spec
Anything outside of these 3 wouldn’t make sense disregarding a warrior having 1 bleed move or a hunter with a physical bleed etc, assuming your talking about most of the spells being DOT damage.

I don't think any primary archetype would be limited like this.
It makes much more sense for specific things like this to be a result of the full class choice.

You could probably see a reasonable way for any class to do this.
All of the physical sharp/piercing damage (arrows, daggers, swords, etc.) can cause bleeding and infection dots.
Mages can use fire, which is a dot. Lightning is instant, and frost might do instant damage and then have a slowing effect or something like that. Maybe you can get frost dots once cold enough?
Cleric should be able to curse their opponents, which could be a dot. Some kind of mental/spiritual anguish.
Summoners might not be able to dot, unless their minions do? Perhaps a rabid wolf or something. From a class strategy perspective, being able to summon things and then dot is a great combo.

my thoughts on this is; one archetype will be the dot champion, and will apply good dots as a secondary archetype too. let's say for example rouge is your number one dot archetype a rouge/rouge would probably be S tier dots, anything that is rouge/anything else will be A or B tier dot users and anything that's anything/rouge will be C and B tier.
for example a tank/rouge wouldn't have powerful dots but could use them to maintain agro on groups of mobs more efficiently by causing threat per dot tick
