I will start with mine and why I think it will be important. LOTR, Memory, Sorrow and Thorn series. Sword of Shannara, there are plenty of examples. The jist of it is they are not hero's or champions but simply people living their life that are forced into something they don't know alot about. Only through trial and tribulation do they succeed. This has always been my favorite because it just seemed more realistic. I think other origins work but this just seems to fit the setting a bit too. The long leveling process, the dangerous world. Other players attacking you. I was also thinking about the New World intro, say what you want about NW but that quick tutorial was great and the Intro of the New World title after was amazing. I think when we come through the portal that being forced through and then having to discover a new world while also being new just has a nice feel to it and would fit what was ahead in the game Now I know the SS Intrepid(Stephen) probably has this all worked out but this just what I am hoping for. I also think it matters in really setting up a great world and story.

Considering that we enter the game with a Primary Archetype, rather than just as an Artisan - we're not starting just as Farmers. Everyone who goes through the Portal from Sanctus to Verra already have some combat Skills - Physical and Magical combat Skills. In D&D, I personally consider people greeting my Level 1 characters with "greetings adventurer" to be the same as "greetings hero". Even if I agree to help out with a task, that doesn't necessarily mean I'm an adventurer. Traveling through one of the Divine Gates to reclaim Verra is considerably more heroic than just staying on Sanctus to be a farmer. But there are levels of heroism. And there will be progression from low levels of heroism to high levels of heroism.
