Alpha 2 Recommended Specs for 4k Max Settings

I haven't been able to find any recommendations for playing at 4k. If anyone has any insight that would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!

so i guess ill be fine with my rx 6700 10gb and my r5 5600 paired with a 1440p screen ;D

but i would upgrade to a 5700 x3d if it will help to smooth things in big battles ;D will be cool to see benchmarks done in nodewars

but obviously ill play node wars with low settings ;D

but when i chill in verra on the beach, i would like to enjoy 1440p max settings even with 30 fps (without raytracing) im fine ;D

Edit: looking foward to 8000 series of amd ... hope it will make everything a little more affordable to upgrade gpus again

since the 3070 is recommended for 1440p and the pixel count is at least somewhat what we could go by ....
4k should be about 2,5 times as demanding ... since it is
~3,6mil pixel at 1440p vs ~8,3mil at 4k .... if we assume same settings ....

to go then by userbenchmark .. i know can only do a general estimation with that data ... we could assume that a 4070ti super or 7900 XTX would be capable of delivering the same frames in 4k like the 3070 in 1440p if we assume 1to1 scalability...

so pretty much "high end" amd or high performance nvidia

if you have 800 to 900 dollars to spend on a gpu alone ... i guess you have a 7800 x3d to support it to not run into cpu bottlenecks -.-

if the recommendation is "native ress" and not upscaled you can maybe get away with a 4070 super or 7900 XT and use FSR or DLSS to upscale 1440p to 4k without noticable picture quality
maybe even with a 4070 or 7900 GRE with a little more aggresive upscaling

try to milk your current rig until full release in several years (or 1-2 years) since serious optimization will be one of the last things done (or usually is)

I would expect you'll need top of the line hardware to get close to native 4K 60fps. The alpha won't be optimized well so I'd be surprised if even a 4090 and 7800X3D can manage.

Don't forget a good monitor they are up there in cost for something decent. No point in buying a ferrari only to hook up a team of oxen to pull it around town.

Unless your current PC hardware is pretty old I would not be upgrading for sake of the AoC alpha testing alone. This game has a long road ahead of it before it actually releases.

Remember. Even with the best of hardware, MMO's are a balancing act on performance.

If you can do 8K, likely on group events you will still have to be at mid settings. Though, having the resolution at 4K or even 1440p will mean you can do most of the group events with very high detailed settings.

I just finished a pricy upgrade for my hardware.

I went down the 4k rout and in the end, same hardware 1080p at max ultra settings looks better.

I am not sure testing at 4K is a huge priority right now.

Maybe in some games if you're playing on low settings at 4K.

Performance in general is a major focus for phase 1, for both servers and clients. They will want metrics from all users in regards to performance so that will include people playing at 1080p with upscaling on low settings to people playing at native 4K max settings.

Aside from not knowing what max settings entails just yet, are we talking 4k max settings, massive battles and 144 FPS or more? Maybe with DLSS and framegen we can get those numbers, but not even a 7800X3D and a 4090 will likely get that at native resolution. Unless of course the game is good at auto-lowering detail in those big battles.
