Norton Antivirus Issue

When I try to download the launcher from the website, Norton blocks the download citing it as malicious. After purchasing access to the Alpha 2, I cannot download the game. Is there a work around for this?

I am having the same problem, it is insisting that the launcher downloaded from the site has malware attached to it.. I think it said WIN32-malware.gen or something like that.

I am having the same issue with AVG - wont let me download launcher :(

Yep I think they might have a breach. I went and added some exceptions to the antivirus and allowed it in anyway because surely Intrepid didn't allow this on purpose, but my system is screaming at me any time I try to touch the launcher lol.

I used used Norton myself in the past. It felt like it found suspicious behavior with every new file. Even with drivers from the Asus website.

Since I've been using Windows Defender, this hardly ever happens any more.
Personally, I would no longer use Norton, it only costs money and offers no more protection than the free solution included with Windows.

Got the same issue here , sent the installer to Norton for examination. Ill post if they send any answers.

Had the same with the launcher yesterday. had to puit a massive amount of exceptions to download and install. NEVER EVER had the problem with any other game so far. so i don't think that my Avast is too sensitive or so. For me it was a Win32:Malware-gen. was able to install the launcher this morning and the "start launcher after installation" threw another error like that. very sus

Since so many people are having issues with the launcher, it would be great to get some feedback from the dev team. It would suck to miss out this weekend, since I just bought in.

Just create an exception for the file or uninstall the Norton garbage and use windows defender.

Upload the file to virustotal and you will see its false postive.

Norton, AVG, Avast is same company.

I tried what you recommended. Uploaded all three of the .exe files and two came back flagged. both the patcher and Updater flagged of a couple of vendors. Any thoughts?

The reference to Virustotal only related to the fact that it is obviously a false positive.

The status will not change in Norton until the file has been checked again.

It may speed up the process to use the following form and submit the file.
    https://safeweb.norton.com/file_dispute

Otherwise you have to wait until Intrepid does something.

So far, I have made an exclusion for the url, then for the download, but it keeps quarantining the file, can't restore, can't install, can't play. I have already submitted a dispute to Norton, and nothing. It's kind of bullshit, fix the launcher link, file, or whatever the hell you have to do, or refund my purchase.

UPDATE : Resolved, finally after 3 exclusions, turning off all antivirus, and getting lucky, I am finally in. I have never had so much trouble getting a download or install to happen, ever.

I turned off Norton as well and I got the game to Download. However the "easy anti-cheat" is still blocked by Norton somehow. I'm not sure what to do.

This is what worked for me:
    - Disable Norton to download installer
    - Add Exclusion for installer
    i.e. C:\Users\<user>\Downloads\IntrepidInstaller-0.3.260.12945.exe
    - Run installer to install launcher and anti-cheat
    - Add Exclusion for launcher location
    i.e. C:\Program Files\Intrepid Studios\*
    - Add Exclusion for anti-cheat temp file (should be MSI in filename, this should stop the anti-cheat block)
    i.e. C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Temp\MSIxxxxx.tmp
    - Turn all Norton protections back on

Are they going to implement a fix to this? I cant get mine to work at all. Even after disabling. Kind of ridiculous to pay for something and all these other people are having issues but no mention about a dev fix.
