The best loot drop game I have ever played... With regards to how you receive loot/drops etc was Destiny
I always recall coming across the original loot cave, before it was patched. Inside were various players farming mobs, and around them were these glow in the dark drops (Engrams). I reckon you should do something similar, perhaps use a glass marble that drop, kind of bouncing on the floor before resting. Image just seeing green drops, suddenly this bright blue marble drops on the floor in dark surroundings.
