Game Crashes after Launcher

Hi all,

I was able to launch the game and play no problem before the 1/30/2025 patch. After the patch, when you launch the game, game crashes immediately in the initial loading screen at about 8%. No errors. Tried repair, reinstall, completely uninstall and fresh install. Updated GPU driver, bios, OS 11 updated. Nothings helping. AMD Ryzen 9 5900x, rtx3080, 32gb ram. Anyone else experiencing this issue or know how to fix this?

I am having the same issue and also created a forum post. In case you haven't seen, this is a known issue as quoted below:
"🔸 If your game is crashing on a black screen immediately after pressing Launch Game, you likely need to update/reinstall the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable. Visit Microsoft's website and install the X64 version for Windows 10/11."

Perhaps try their fix they suggest. It did not work for me but it may for you. Let me know if you figure out the solution - I'll let you know if I find anything out in the mean time.

Tried the MS Visual C++ update and reinstall, didnt make a difference. Even after the patch on 1/31/2025, still getting the same issue.

I was able to play once after the patch, every time after I crash.

If your game is crashing on a black screen immediately after pressing Launch Game, you likely need to update/reinstall the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable. Visit Microsoft's website and install the X64 version for Windows 10/11.

Its not at the black screen when it crashes. After I hit the launch game at the launcher, in the first initial loading screen before character selection, the game crashes consistently before the loading bar reaches 10%. I guess there was a quick patch today, (2/1/2025) after I patched the game, no changes. Game still crashes the same after launcher

Description
After installing the latest version, I am unable to load into the game at all. The game crashes on the loading screen after going through the EasyAntiCheat screen, showing one of the pretty pictures of the building, and getting to around 10% on the loading bar.

Bug Reproduction Steps
Log in to launcher -> Patch the game -> Attempt to load into the server -> Crash

Expected Result
Successfully getting to character select

Bug Report - Actual Result
Game crashes at 10% loading bar. No error message is generated, just goes to the default launcher.

Steps taken to attempt a fix
Repair, Reinstall, Logged out of launcher and back in, PC restart several times, update graphics driver, closed all background apps I could, checked for Windows updates.

Did some rooting around in the appdata/AOC crash logs, and found the thing it's erroring out on. Here's what the log says about it:

This didn’t help me, it started yesterday, everything up to dare, and installed the reccomended above. Any other ideas/

i keep crashing too in the loading screen, it loads up at 50% and crashes, i see the loading screen for about 0.5 second before it crashes. Once i got the shaders to compile in the loading screen but it was when my internet was out...

whats super strange is the loading screen does not crash if i unplug my internet when the screen goes black (after the easy anti-cheat finishes loading, and it turns into a black screen moments before the loading screen appears), it doesnt crash, but it also doesnt finish loading. it loads to about just over 8000 shaders left to compile before crashing but it does take about 5 seconds until it reaches this point and crashes, while if connected..

IT JUST LOADED fully, but then says ""service request timeout. code: 33", then crashed...

I have the same porblem since phase III. Game launches - blackscreen sometimes it starts compiling shaders - after 10 -20% it crshes to the desktop.

Hello, I just purchased the Alpha Key today, and I am also trying to launch the game. I am also experiencing all the same as described above. After clicking launch, my screen goes to the anti-cheat screen, and then goes black. I have also tried all the same steps, restarting, and made sure to update everything. After the same results, I uninstalled and started the install process all over again, and I still can not get into the game. Please help, Thank you .

Hi, I am going to the same problem. I did all the steps possible. Game keeping crashing when launching going to a black screen. I need to try about 100 times to be able to open the game and when I finally do it, the game crashes at 10% when is loading after the character lobby. I am trying to fix for weeks, I need to play the game to create content, but I can't play it. I Reinstaled the game many times, repaired and Reinstaled the c+++ x64, even rebooted my PC and nothings works... I am very frustrated, I have a very good PC and Ashes is the only game that happens. Anu update about this issue? I want to ger this fixed for the 11th, but I am loosing the hope.

What's really confusing is some days it works and I can play for hours, then other days I tried to launcher and took me over 2 1/2 hours to get in

I hope this is resolved before the steam launch.

This is exactly my life. Also on Nvidia RTX 4070. Everything is updated,. All systems. All drivers. BIOS. Done the shader thing, the MS things, etc...It's borderline unplayable like this. Can we get any feedback/update from the devs @Vaknar ? This has been a massive problem that's been going on for months now.

I have an MSI RTX 4060 OC and 16 GB of ram in this Test machine I use for AOC.

Want to let people know I self mitigated the constant in-game screen freezing bug.. at least for me. I updated to the latest Nvidia drivers 581.80 (game ready driver) and I installed process lasso (the pro paid for version that I own) and used that to stabilize how AOC used system resources (set AOC to performance mode in process lasso) and my constant screen freezes and stutter stopped.

To be crystal clear here this fix does NOT solve any server side or server worker side Lag but it does solve graphics latency issues client side for me.

Without using Process lasso I was getting that weird out of video memory bug that people were getting. My guess is that is due to only having 16 GB of ram in my system. I could rob memory from the gaming computer I'm building for my wife and up myself to 48 gb of ram. But I'm not willing to aggro the wife to do so easier to just use process lasso.

This also seems to solve the AOC Launcher making my computer unusable while updating. To be fair the game update process is much slower using this option but I'm able to multitask and do other things while the game updates. Your results may vary but this fix worked wonders for me. Hope this helps you too.

One caveat to using process lasso. This program will interfere with the speed at which windows updates system files. If This program is running while windows updates, the update process will take 3-5X longer to process and complete than normal. So the TL:DR is disable this program while updating your windows software.
