Splinter Topic(?): Item Deconstruction, Where, Who, How?
I was doing my normal design contemplations and realized that if you can deconstruct gear dropped from Corrupted players, you can obviously 'prevent them from ever regaining it'. To be clear, I don't think this matters, with what we know about the game now.
But more importantly, do you need the Artisanship skill to do this? Can you do it 'on the spot'? Can you deconstruct gear if you, yourself, are Corrupted? Can you deconstruct your own gear after going red?
Just a thought experiment that I'm throwing out for discussion in case anyone else finds it interesting. I was thinking about all the ways that player incentives, in fact, the whole game, changes depending on some of these factors.
I also don't have a preference here or anything, since I don't know how Ashes is supposed to feel. In FF11, my main game for years, you needed to have the Artisan skill to desynth things, but could do it anywhere. In TL, my new one, there is no 'Artisan Skill' of this type, and you can technically do it anywhere but you had to come 'prepared to do that' for whatever reason. In both games you need to have some item you're carrying around. If Ashes were like FF11 I think the item could drop on death, if it is like TL, then it probably wouldn't.
This one really got me thinking, because it seems like it would not happen often or matter much, but the more I think about it, the more I see a Butterfly Effect here, even down to things like 'the immersion that happens via inter-guild stories', so, I post.
