Crafting
My experience in this game is about a year or so. I spent most of the initial phase just testing combat and was pretty impressed honestly. Looks pretty darn good and the complexity of the combos and play is really nice. Obviously there are issues that need to be worked on etc but overall pretty solid. Crafting was a totally different story. I have always enjoyed being a mult tier player in MMORPG's and I have played plenty. I love doing both and being pretty involved in both worlds. I'm really hoping that this crafting is TOTALLY placeholder and they have put 80 percent of their focus on combat and world building. Initially I was super excited about the open world and the talk about crafting and the team and the focus Steven seemed to have for a meaningful crafting and economy. It is soooo bad right now Intrepid. Everything has SOME positives but i really struggle to come up with any. The system is ugly and not very user friendly top to bottom. Resource balance and economy is atrocious. Low end resources needed for grinding are WAY too scarce...like not even in the realm of enough in the world. The links between certain items to make other items is very wonky and just feels off. Most games with dynamic and solid crafting you just kind of go down a line and it makes sense, while everything has a market and is needed. This is just not the case in AoC. As i mentioned from the very start just the lack of basic resources like copper, zinc and tin later on are light years from correct. It's ridiculously rare considering the volume of zinc and copper you need to do a crafting profession like armor or weapon. It's ok that crafting takes a long time but not if the reason is because the basic resources just arent around. That balance has to be the first thing you look at. I should be able to take 10 hours of play time and get a very large amount of BASIC resources. You have nodes that have rare high end ores that i can mine 100x more than the basic ore which is the ore that is fundamental to leveling basic professions....silly out of whack balance. I really hope this is just a snippit of a snippit of a crafting system that will be totally different and dynamic and good, cause right now it's barely worth mentioning other than the flaws.

I'm happy to report that we wrote an article not long ago about the current state and plans for artisanship here: https://ashesofcreation.com/news/the-gatherable-spawning-system-is-evolving
Feel free to give that a read, and share your thoughts in this thread! These updates are ones we hope to get out soon
Like that you are addressing the foundational problem pretty extensively. Did we get surveying already and I missed it? Had 3 dates and they've all passed. Just curious. Now we just need to make sure the amounts are balanced correctly and also start focusing generally on crafting to help that mess. Thanks for the response though!
