I am MMO vet and have played a lot of them. But I am having some issues getting this game. I have been playing a few days and have 4 char up 6-7th Level. I have no money or gear upgrades from the starting gear. I hear that they turned off loot drops to test the crafting system. I guess what I am looking for is there a guide to how the crafting system works? Following the in game bread crumb so not working for me. I am guessing the crafting system is why there is a bunch of 25 level char. in the newebie areas mass killing things like wolfs. Is there any guides I am missing to help me with crafting and Classes ?

And say: look for items you want, look at what you need in the recipes, follow the dropped/sold by tabs and sooner or later you'll be able to craft stuff.
Also, you're limited in the amount of professions you can take, so you won't be able to craft things above lvl10 by yourself. Supposedly market should have the items you'd be missing, but I'm not sure if the market is filled out enough for that lvl of crafting.
Also, prices for all of that are super high, recipes are often bugged and drop chances for Essences is super low. In other words, it's a path of suffering
I'd recommend you start with Gathering. Gather absolutely everything you can.
From there, once you have a nice stock of resources, try some Processing of the Gathered Materials. The way the Processing is working at the moment, is that you need the raw materials, and also a reagent that is bought from a nearby Vendor. It gets very pricey very fast, so just see how you go.
From there, once you have a nice stock of processed resources, try the Crafting.
The best advice for Ashes is this: Find a guild that you can enjoy being a part of, and learn, test, and play with them.
