new forum look

New forum look is more modern but a few things I have problems with UI/UX wise.

Mainly the coloring is weird and busy, especially on the comments and reply section. Could be a personal problem, but the plain gray should be whats behind the part you are reading and the textured black should be the background. Just feels very busy on the eyes when I am reading the comments of the discussion.

There are also some unclear indicators because everything is grayscale with the rare yellow. Before things like new comment on a discussion you were paying attention to was indicated in red. Made it real easy to tell at a breif glance. This includes things like the like button and quote being grayscale now.

I think overall this could be a good change there are some new organization on features but the user experience went down IMO with things like I mentioned above.

Jut make it ugly as hell and that should keep too much People out who could probably "demand" a few things here. 😆 like i for Example hope/WISH for Summoner-Summons to be able to get Colored in like all possible Colors and all bright or dark Shades for those Colors.

You want to have icy-bright-blue Summons ? For your Necromancer in a frosty Area ? Done.

You want to have dark-red/crimson Summons ? With a corrupted hue/smoke coiling around them ? So that they have this cool, demonic - corrupted Atmosphere ? Done.

You want them in greenish Colors ? Purple perhaps ? Something else ?

This will suck sooooooooooooo many Donkeyballs across of Verra, if Summoners won't get that … … 😉 😁

It's trash. The visuals are busy, while also absolutely barren on the sides. Quoting is now near-fucking-impossible, because you can't address certain points and have to double the god damn post (the default new quote THAT IS A LITERAL COPYPASTE OF THE ENTIRE COMMENT) and the do your own copypasting in the quote function to address points.

The colors do make the eyes hurt, and several features get lost in the weird font and coloring.

Also, RIP to the Artisanship part of the A2 feedback thread. Guess Intrepid are not interested in properly placed feedback, so now we can just spam the general A2 discussion with whatever the hell we want. Hooraaaayyy… 🙄

Would like to bump this so I can suggest at least giving either a way to use the old version of the forum until it improves or at least let us change the color and texture on the parts we read.

That's not that big of a deal. It should be there anyway we should be looking at all feed back not the the bits were interested in.

We have attempted to provide a better structure, significantly better bug reporting tools, and clearer announcements. The old forum was old enough it no longer received software support from our host and was approaching literal end of life.

I'd love to make your experience here as great as I can. I know we lost a couple of features (rss feeds and staff tracking, the old way), as well as comments that things feel busy. If you have more specific annoyances or suggestions, please share.

@Mepps Trying to like this one, even if only to avoid being negative against something just because it is new and unfamiliar, so while I have a lot of annoyances I only want to actually bring up one of them for now.

So, my web devs tell me that basically things have moved from BBCode to mostly MarkDown, but not consistently, and old stuff can still appear in BBCode type, but it's not clear what is up with signatures. Optimally for myself I'd like the option to tag new posts in the BBCode style but I realize that's basically just asking for the old thing back. My issue is that text signatures before were unobtrusive because the system would automatically downscale them, and now it doesn't, making them seem like regular text when reading normally, especially when the post is short. To be clear this is basically not about my own signature, I can work that mismatch out. If there's anything at all that can be done about the rendering that was lost without butchering everyone's BBCoded sigs, that'd be great.

Yes this is like the most minor silly thing, but as I said, trying (hard) to like it.

The inability to edit quotes so as to highlight the part of a post that is being replied to has essentially broken actual discussion on these forums.

The reason you stated is sound (thank you for being straight forward on that), and so if the best we can do is work with this and improve it, then IMO thats fine.

So, a list of current issues/nitpicks:

no RSS feed
old staff tracker was better
quoting nerfed
forum looks busy/cluttered
no monthly artwork
navigation to the oldest unread post doesn't seem to be a thing

To that list, I would like to add that the link to posts in quotes as above is adding to the cluttered look. The simple arrow that the old forums had to navigate to the quoted post was a far cleaner solution.
