my first crafting experience

I'm new to ashes and this was my first crafting experience to make my first piece of light gear as a new player

-gather daffoldil

-go to weaving station

-go to vendor to buy wax just so u can process daffodil

-back to weaving station to process it and pay a fee

-wait for it to process

-run to tailor station

-find out u need something from hunting to make the piece of gear

-find mobs u need kill, kill them until huntable

-run to tanning station

-run to vendor to buy tanning mat

-back to tannery, process it, pay for it, wait for it

-run back to tailor station

-run back to vendor to buy the vendor mat u need to craft that piece gear

-then craft it

this is literally what i had to do to craft some light armor gear that wasn't even as good as any early/reward drops i got, talk about a chore.

the time investment for a crap piece of gear is way to high and needs some tweaking i think.

Idk. I built myself a really good spellbook that lasted me through to lvl 12 so far. I got an adept greatsword for my cleric though that replaced my spectar. Usually it would be about 1.5g for that from a crafter.

And that's just the beginning. On higher lvls you'll have to run around multiple nodes across multiple biomes in the search of someone that is either selling or can make a certain material you need.

The, preferred by Steven, alternative is just getting into a guild and working together, where each person only needs to do a single point from your list and then all those points culminate in the "press to craft" button.

-Ya you can craft stuff, but the question is "is it fun to use the crafting system?"

-what is the point of needing a vending mat? just for an extra step? just to make you spend some coin?

-Why do i need to have a wait time to process at 2 different stations just to craft a piece of gear and why have a third station to craft at?

-And if i am paying for processing fee why can i only have 2 orders at a time?

seems silly that i need to farm 2 different gathering professions and use 2 different processing stations just to get the mats i need to use at the crafting station to make a basic piece of light armour. And during that you need to visit vendors 3 times to get mats to process at each station and a mat to craft the piece of armour. And top of them making you buy mats every time you craft or process you also have to pay a processing/crafting fee when you craft and have a long wait time to process your materials.

-yes it is a very in depth system but how many people will find it fun?

-are they trying to add content by making the crafting system an annoyingly long process to make something simple?

I'd agree that if you want to make a rare or some epic piece of gear then ya it should be a more material needed process but If i want to try to make a few different common items i need to get out a pen and paper and write down all the different mats i need.

If you want to have a game with this kind of crafting system you should have a good Market house. The market house is a pain to use if your planning on using it to get materials. You should just be able to search a item and see the cheapest option at the top, but it seems like you need to click through everyone's store front to see who is selling it the cheapest , and if you want to sell something then you have to do the same thing..

It feels like this game wants to throw all these extra steps into everything you do and at some point it feels like the game is trying to waste your time rather than just letting you play the game and have fun. Right now the game feels like i am really only enjoying myself 40% of the time and the other 60% i am running and looking for the objectives i am trying to accomplish.

Ok, ya I can see that. Some things can be cut out and improved. I do like that we don't have to sit there and wait for the items to finish though. At first, I thought I had to sit at each station and wait 20 mins for 60 logs to be cut. I am assuming the extra mats is prolly to make it cost more but it is silly since we get charged to use the station..
