You will still find the servers up and you will still find me playing upon them. Just 'Giant Leveled' to 20th level for the first time yesterday. It seems like a different game with not even a full set of Radiant on my character. The level grind now makes sense.
With less of a crowd about, it has seemed easier for me to be a little less solo and a little more social. The experience of game play on many of the remaining players is astounding. Had a chat with a fellow Joevian today. We talked about the war and he said he was happy to hear that I had felt to have gotten my 'money's worth' being part of the $250 Club. He was not so sure himself.
My suggestion was that the most value that he walks away with is the in depth knowledge of what the pillars of Ashes are and what work, what did not and how some things need to be played.
This lead me to thinking what an incredible OpenSource project could be started on github starting with the white paper of the 'Ashes Pillars'. With Unity in use perhaps even some out of work programmers would like to share their expertise.
Of course one always wants to see this world rise from the ashes should my login cease to function. Yet a world with an open source clone of Ashes bringing together graphic artists, programmers and the knowledgeable game testers of Ashes of Creation to create a package that can be run by anyone on any server. Give them a world editing interface and proverbial Bob is your Uncle.
One's mind gets to drifting on a quiet server…
