perhaps it would be cool if in a tavern I was able to contract caravans to move my product for me.. or escort me.. or contract others to gather for me.. or bring me things I need.

From the info available so far it seems you can at least contract someone to escort your caravan, but not sure if you can contract the entire caravan-driving process to others yet.
