The problem with having “Tank” as a class name

Hello all, I believe this discussion may have come up before, but I really would like Steven and friends to reconsider the name “Tank”. Overall, they have done a good job at naming the other classes and subclasses, but they ruin the immersion of the game by using the class name “tank”. Tank was a code name given to military vehicles being created in 1915. It has been a slang term for classes and archetypes in many video games given to the role that is used to absorb/mitigate or “tank” damage. Having a class name feels very uncharacteristic compared to the other class names. It’s like naming your cat “Cat”. It’s cute and punny, but is that what they really want for their game? What class do you play? Oh, I play a tank! Yea, but like what class? TANK!! *insert meme of a tank with a face on it... drooling*

All kidding aside, as a former marketing masters student, I can confirm that some brands have indeed permeated the vocabulary. Some examples:

Kleenex for tissues
Tipex for white correction fluid
Taser for stun guns
Xerox for copiers/printers
Bubble wrap for air bubble packaging
Dumpster for mobile garbage bins
Escalator for moving stairway
Thermos for vacuum flasks
Chapstick for lip balm
Frisbee for flying disc
Laundromat for coin laundry shop
Jumbotron for large screen tv
Zamboni for ice resurfacer
Aspirin for acetylsalicylic acid
Kerosene for combustible hydrocarbon liquid
Jacuzzi for hot tub
Rollerblade for in-line skates
Velcro for hook and loop fasteners

And so on and so forth

I was thinking in regards to everyone is bringing up the idea that Tank is an armored vehicle. What if in this universe, tank was first a type of fighter, and if they ever reach some sort of industrial revolution, they'd name those armored vehicles Tanks.

Same as in the world of 40K, there are tanks called Leman Russ, but Leman Russ is also the Primarch of the Space Wolves legion. Trust me, the Primarch was not named after the vehicle but the other way around. So perhaps it would be the same in Verra.

i think that would be a bad idea as we already know that healer will also have damage specs

Actually, submarines are based on water tanks, and the word "tank" in games comes from water tanks, so why don't we change the name to Submarine?

literally one of the roles of a tank is to take attention and fire away from the infantry - hey isn't that what tanks do in mmo's?.. interesting how that works eh? honestly if you're going to complain just to complain you can probably make a similar case for most other class names. i get that you're bored waiting for the game like the rest of us but come on

The discussion has been up here and there, many people share your sentiment. So it's an ok discussion to have.
However, saying "tank" can't be the name "because it's a military vehicle" is a stupid argument. No one thinks of "military vehicle" in a fantasy MMORPG where there are no military vehicles (as we know them IRL, there are vehicles like trebuchets). Or if the game had actual military/army style stuff, like DCUO had. I don't go into wow thinking "the tank" is a Panzer. (I'm getting ideas of a skit where the raid tank is called Panzer and this ensues into a massive confusion, but this only works as a ridiculous joke).
