Can megazerg guilds raise a node by themselves? Should they? Will they?

Would it be possible for a single mega guild to lv up to the max a node?

I am curious as to if the devs want this scenario to play out. Or not.

What are your thoughts?

    Steven says no.

I imagine at the higher levels it would be very difficult and dependent on the surrounding nodes. High level node development is a matter of week and weeks, not hours!

A metropolis could conceivably have 2000 or more citizens. So if by megaguild you mean a 2000 member strong guild split up into 10 ingame guilds working closely together, for example, yeah, sure, possibly.

As somebody playing in a pretty massive guild through testing, I can testify to just how difficult node leveling can be. Not only does it take a significant amount of XP but there is a limited number of mob spawn points. What this does is create an effective maximum rate of XP a node can gain.

Once the node reaches a certain point and starts to block other nodes the guild then needs to worry about leveling those other nodes too. XP gained in these nodes will be transfered to the node blocking its development once it has reached its maximum possible tier.

So there is a significant amount of work to this. Not only that but some players may actively work against this and attempt to siege nodes so that they can't reach this point.

Zerg and large scale guilds will have an advantage. Especially if they are organized which is good but do to the sheer magnitude of XP required and the limited resources present in an individual node it will be pretty balanced.

Large scale guilds will also do what they can to draw average, solo and small scale players to the nodes they desire. This will just help to maintain the do flow.

Personally I don't have any issue with this system. Maintaining a larger guild takes organization and communication. These can be challenging especially when you operate on a competitive level.

That is not dead which can eternal lie. And with strange aeons even death may die.

It might take an alliance of guilds, but I think it's possible if everyone has the same goal. They've talked about different node options given how settlements are placed, so I 100% expect nodes to be destroyed and replaced in different spots for players to find new gameplay/resources. So it becomes more of a logistics issue than 'is it possible'.

    Could they; certainly.
Should they; not unless they want a fairly banal pvx server to play on or perhaps a pve only server.
    Will they, time will see.

Well if I remember correctly, all the guild has to do is get to tier 3 first then the vassalage system starts. As long as they don’t have heavy competition near by then they will definitely max.

If a large group of people want to work together to accomplish a goal, that should be allowed. I imagine limited resources will keep large guilds from controlling too much at once.

There have been many cases in history where expansion was required to continuously fuel a large empire. This sort of behavior can lead to poorly organized expansion, In fighting, and weakness. Due to all of this I don't think a large alliance can maintain power forever.

The story created as all of this plays out seems to be what Ashes is all about.
