Orc (Renkai) Feedback

I honestly love the direction Intrepid is taking with the Renkai Orcs! I was definitely nervous when we saw how skinny the dwarves were but that seems to be on the right path as well. Great job Intrepid!

Obviously there is still a lot of work still needing to be done to meet Stevens standards but damn, this is exciting stuff.

The radical exclusionary forces are that way for a,simple primal reason. They are speciesist. They think that because the gods did not 'save' them they are somehow inferior. Utter rubbish. For we are all children of the gods. Some of us were just destined to adapt to the changes enforced on our birth right. For who better to make repopulation possible than keeping ancient and new knowledge available through Tulnar.

The exclusionists want us to forget. To squander this blessing of compassion and long suffering our brethren give us. A gift from the gods. You ask why? They feel inferior and jealous. Or worse that ugly relic of ancient past. Xenophobic tribalism and hatred. We don't tolerate this behavior between elf and dwarf or orc and human in proper society. Any who do are obviously and rightfully shamed as barbaric racists.

Heed my call. Rebuke these vile exclusionists for the threat to society they are. For we need all intelligent races of Verra to rid this world of corruption. Our enemies are brutish and vile. Give in to the exclusionists and soon dwarf and elf start refusing to live amongst eachother and orc and humanat each other's throats. Our foes WILL target our petty weakness if we succumb.

Should we admit to the gods their gifts are squandered on us? I say no.

The very essence of the Tulnar IS weakness! I shall rise to the occasion and rid Verra of them forever! The battlefield will be littered with the heads of the weak. Blood and flesh will fill the rivers and the crows will eat a plenty. @JustVine speaks of gifts from the gods. HA! The only gift given was that of my blade and it was from no god. I mean, I figured it was just for funsies... But I was just trying to figure out why they were the Target... Like in wow when people pick on the vulpera I understand, cause reasons... So I was wondering if it was the same thing.

Personally I'm really looking forward to seeing what kind of character creator options they have. I hope I can make a dark elf somehow.

Since we haven’t seen any info about them, no concept art or anything, just vague silhouettes, they can look like anything. They might be awesome or might suck. They’re like Schrodinger’s Catgirl at the moment. I think that makes them easy targets for ridicule.

@JustVine I was thinking about colours for the Vek as they're celestial inspired. Could see those purple/blue tones. Yellow could be cool too. Apparently they're "goblin-esque" according to their wiki. Height is somewhere between Vaelune and Dunir.. lol

I really really really want to play a female "Orc" but am terrified of the ugliness. I WANT the powerful stats but I don't want to play a disgusting body builder brute of a woman with a psychopath killer face. My hopes are that the "scales" for size and beauty of the Renkai and Kaivek will allow for me to create a powerful looking but still beautiful woman.

I also really don't want to be way way way taller than everyone else, I hope I can scale down to be on par with the tallest humes and elves. I think the model should show far more muscles, like a woman body builder (THAT ISN'T ON STEROIDS), and perhaps have other phenotypes to tell them apart from humes and elves, like their own weird ears or horns or fangs or stranger colors or whatever... but the over-all ability to make a "good looking" avatar still needs to be there... Please??

When FFXIV was in Alpha their "hulk" humes were abominations and nobody played the female versions for long *(only some crazy real women did, it was the least played race/gender). They were just too ugly, but they fixed it up at release, and I was able to create probably one of the first "pretty" avatars of that type. I often got complements from users on my server, surprised I was able to work with the character creation that way.

Steven has said that the character creator can best be compared to Black Desert Online, which has some of the most detailed customization you'll see in any MMORPG.

So I am hopeful you'll be able to get what you want. Your character will be distinctly Ren'kai, but you should be able to have one with softer, feminine features.

I do agree that players should have the option to customize their characters but I feel like the visuals of each race should come down to what Intrepid wants to deliver and that alone. So far, everything they have done has been phenomenal. I trust they will make the right choices that fit the lore and not just make every character have the option to be human-like.

The best argument I can comment on to support what you want @Missfit comes from Star Trek. Klingons are naturally very ugly. Worf was an ugly ass dude but after a while you would notice how handsome he was compared to other obviously hideous klingon. There have been a lot of "beautiful" Klingon women over the course of the show and if Intrepid did something like this, I would be happy with that.

My character will be the tallest and ugliest MF to walk the lands. I want people to recognize me on the battlefield.

I hope we can get a wide variety of looks with the char creator, so Missfit can get their wish. As long as Intrepid don't come up with this bullshit we see in some MMORPGS:

A classic example is WoW orcs and trolls. Wildstar had it too with the Granok. Tera went all out and made the male Popori and the female Elin as their female counterparts. Ridiculous dimorphism. By all means, let's have good looking female faces, just please don't make them good looking human female faces (or bodies) if the race isn't human.

Guild Wars 2 did it right with the Charr, a cat-like race. You could see what we associate as feminine traits in their faces, but without the dimorphism. The body was thoroughly Charr all he way.

I hope the female Dünir look strong and beefy too. They can tone it down a bit compared to the males, absolutely, but they shouldn't just keep the Alpha 1 models for the women.
