Building your Legacy - item signing

Hello there
Following a discussion on the AoC discord, i decided to post it here.
So in some lesser known mmos I've encountered a very interesting feature which would tie nicely into what AoC strives to be.
Basicly the idea is simple - when the highest rarity tier item drops from a mob (be it a world boss or anything) the item receives a 'signature' of the player that dropped it.
How it works in the games i mentioned? Well it is an automated process that simply takes player name, mob name and date as imput and results in a line of text similar to flavor texts. A short "On 04.02.2022 BigWorldBoss was defeated by Gigachad"
Same thing could apply to crafting, again a short "Crafted by Gigachad", but here it makes a great difference - the item is your advertisement, a sorta company logo, be it for good (you gain more clients) or bad (you could get exposed for supplying corrupted players with equipment).
I belive such feature would be great for a game with such a social focus. It creates many good opportunities for social interactions - players wont need to search every random aoc discord to get general idea of who is big deal (for example by having many top quality items with a player's signature going around the server), who to contact for best crafted stuff or give a way to prove yourself to others (sorta like linking achievements in wow)
I'll post a screenshot of one such item from one of the game i mentioned, just to ensure there are no missunderstandings (the important part is the green on the bottom)

Resources drop, which are then processed.
Seems like both EQ and WoW include crafter names on crafted items.
They have never meant anything to me. I have never sought a specific crafter due to a name stamped on an item.
Typically, anyone can make the same stuff if you level high enough in the profession.
We'll have to see if the game is able to use unique recipes and crafting talents to single out individuals whom others can't compete with.
I think this idea has merit, very minor change needed to implement it and a good fit with AoC ideals.
I expect to find the crafters I like by visting the Freeholds of players who play when I do... or social media.
They do, the chance is just smaller according to wiki.

Aren't we all sinners?
I want it to feel personal even if I didn't make them myself. Can't have that feeling if there's someone elses name on it.
And if the seller has a "stupid" name it would be really immersive breaking to me.
Maybe the name of the shop but only if shops only can have immersive names.

No one is forcing anyone to buy from a player named "Yo Mamma" and there are plenty of famous people named "Dick" in real world. If a player has invested enough effort into the game and his profession that his crafting skills are needed or wanted for whatever reason, his name should be inscribed on it and not optional, whatever it may be cuz that serves his purpose, leaving HIS legacy in the game. If someone is so opposed to the name then find someone else or craft yourself on an alt. Easily solved problem.
True, players would probably find the craftsmen they need not via this feature but by some other means, but the main intent behind this is to leave a legacy after you quit the game for sometime.
Legacy is more likely to come from Mayors and Monarchs, leaders of Religions and Social Orgs.
Seems like there should be something for Master Artisans - but I don't think that will come from names stamped on Crafted gear.
Mayors, Monarchs and other leaders are very small part of the population occupying Verra.
What's wrong with having it optional? That would make everyone happy.
I think an immersive name is something that fits the world. "Burpfart" or "Putt Blug" etc. isn't really immersive to me and ofc I wouldn't buy from those, but if I didn't have any other choice I would be really happy if I could turn off/hide the crafters name since I'm really not into crafting myself.
This isn't true, I've played in MMO's that an extremely rare legendary crafting recipe was only available to a select number of people based on how hard it was to obtain, and I've personally been that person that was sought out because I was able to craft the recipe, or use that specific enchantment. I agree that in this game where the developers have already stated that they want there to be rarities to where guilds need to trade between each other to obtain them would benefit from a simple system such as a signature on your crafted items. AoC, devs have stated that not "everyone" will be able to do/get everything... no "participation trophies" here. That is what I love most about this development. I'll be able to work hard for things that unless you work just as hard, you cannot obtain.
Sylvanar suggested leaving behind a legacy - which had me thinking of renown that remains even after the character has been absent for years. Especially after the player has stopped playing.
