Would placing a bounty on a player be considered greifing

Lets say i dont like @dygz.

Lets say i put in my time and effort to obtain gold in ashes. And lets say i offer, by word of mouth 1000 gold to slay dygz to any and all takers. Would this be an act that is expected to be reported? Or is this a social interaction that is available in ashes of creation.

I mean, that doesn't seem to break any rules, except for many moral ones? PKing is allowed, paying others to do your job is allowed (mercs and shit), so why couldn't a PK be a job?

There's the questions of repeatability of such actions and whether at some arbitrary limit it goes from feature to harassment, but I don't think Intrepid have given any such limits? Or maybe I've missed them doing so.

I guess, make sure you're nice to the penguins in the arctic biome.

I don't see anything wrong with 'unofficial' bounty hunting. Clearly the only thing you would need to close the loop is some trophy as proof.

I mean with streaming and capture software and such... proof is probably not all that hard to come by

I'll defend dygz for free with the pvp going his way. Maybe i'd be a little rude and let someone kill him for corruption so i can swoop in at a chance at their gear.

This isn't abusing any mechanics in the game so i'm not sure why this would be an issue.

I think the issue would be if you are harassing them, especially if your harassment goes out of the game.

I know this is straying into the 'how' while you're focusing on the 'what.' But I''d definitely want something tangible in game as proof. Anything originating outside the game is way too easy to manipulate... but I digress

Thats the over arch of the question tho... is me paying people to kill him greifing? Is that harassment? What if i tell a large guild about the deal, and he has 20 players ganking him for an hour? I mean if i pay out for everydeath, is it still just a deal that is okay under the social structure of ashes?

Sounds like the beginnings of a guild / node war to me, which is all player-generated content that is explicitly condoned in Ashes. As long as the tuxedoed assassins incur the appropriate corruption when killing a green, it's within the ruleset.

If anything, the question should be "what if I pay a mayor to make someone enemy of the state, would that be harassment?"

Cause that mechanic is way worse than just some dudes earning themselves a ton of corruption for money.

Why not? It looks like a mayor can designate any foreign citizen as an EotS - does it matter why they decide Dygz over Crowe? I don't really think so. Adding some gold to the equation only heightens the player-driven cross-node gameplay opening roads to espionage, politics, assassination, and node-seiges.

Exactly. And considering that EotS will be a free target for anyone from said state (iirc), that definitely seems way more dangerous for that "enemy" than any kind of corruption-based attacks. And if a worse system isn't seen as harassment, then why should a better one be one?

If EotS has some achievements and a title, sign me up. I have no problem running underground ops to dethrone a mayor.

Honestly that sounds like a great idea. I'd make a deal with Dygz to give him half if he lets me kill him repeatedly. Win/Win for all.
