Can US players play on EU Server

I am a US player in wow and I play on an EU server so I have lots of friends over there and we are considering starting a guild in this game on EU. We have a few US players would that be an issue in this game?

Yes, any player that has a regular subscription to the game can play on any server in any region offered. There is no region locking planned for Ashes. Your performance due to things they cannot control like ISP and ping are on you.

The other consideration for playing on a different regions server is the prime time window - when events such as sieges are able to happen.

Before selecting a server to play on, it is probably worth looking in to when that window will be.

Given this mechanic, servers might be optimized for regions. Ping could be lower across regions.

I also hope at launch, if there are queues, local regions have priority.

AFAIK there won't be any IP restrictions, but you might be forced to pay for your subscription in Euro (pure speculation). And, even if there are IP restrictions, VPNs solve that problem.

Like others have pointed out though, you might need to be online at 1PM EST because that's probably when the European servers' prime time will start.

I play on EU servers now that are 6 hours ahead of me and that works perfect for me. My and my guild mates. I get to raid during the afternoon which works out due to my work schedule. So this is good news to hear. My IP also seems to hold up well on EU wow server

Does VPN help at all with latency or no? I always get mixed reviews on that. Some say it does other say it slowes it down. With Warcraft I pay on EU I get 45 fps which is great but while 120 to 130 ms latency is livable I would love to not have it that high. Specially when a game like Ashes will be more graphic intense.

To reach a server, your PC has to physically travel to that server, that's how you get your latency. Some people will say that VPNs can't help with your latency because it won't make the server any closer, so it makes sense. However, there are other variables involved, such as the route you take to reach a server.

For that reason, the answer is it depends. It depends on the server/game, it depends on your ISP, it depends on where you live.

I mentioned using a VPN to bypass IP restrictions, but that won't be necessary afaik. ExitLag helps some people with latency issues, it never helped me, but you can't be sure before you try.
