Alpha 2 Date and beyond? Easily accessed Roadmap?

I don't come here often, I've only posted once before about this and it was a little over a year ago;
When is Alpha 2? Would we get an email notification about it? I feel like I'd miss it if it was posted here.
I see the pinned Alpha 2 Freehold post and I feel like I missed it?(the Alpha 2). I'm just confused and worried I'd miss the window to test.
[I also think a roadmap tab on the website would be nice, just to pop over and make sure I didn't miss anything, even though I know dates can change and stuff could be pushed back.]
The frequent updates/videos are nice, just makes me want to play, you know?

If you have alpha 2 access, you will get an email.

We have no dates as yet, but I think most of us expect early to mid next year.

The problem with a roadmap is that if Intrepid don't hit the targets, things can go badly - people get upset. Development of even a simple product can run in to unforseen issues - and an MMORPG is far from a simple product. A roadmap also encourages developers to do a "less good" job than they otherwise would, to ensure they hit their roadmap goals.

There has been no official statements about when Alpha 2 will drop. However as stated you will get an email, invite, etc when the time comes. They did say that alpha 2 keys will be removed from purchase prior... so just keep your eyes open to the forums, discord, etc and you will be prepared for the A2 when it comes.

There wont ever be a date on Alpha 2 due to learning there lesson with A1 when they had to push dates back. The only time you will get a date on A2 is when they can 100% confirm they have a working version and will guaranteed the date they give.
I suspect they be like ok working version complete lets set day from 3 weeks (or less) from now even though A2 ready to go.
either way we probaly wont get the date till A2 is ready to go

If you want something to check periodically so you don't miss it - pop over to the discord and check out the "News" thread every so often. Anything worthwhile is always posted in there.

im guessing alpha 2 will be first half of next year maybe realy late this year if were super lucky but that a slim chance i think.

Lol it does not take 4 years between A2 and launch... Betas are literally not longer than 3 months, and that incl both open and closed.

Since everything is subject to change based on fanbase feedback, it could take more than 4 years between the start of Alpha 2 and launch.

Um. It's actually impossible for Ashes to move from the start of Alpha 2 to Launch in 3 months.

The beta cycles will be a complete game and only last a couple weeks its basicly there stress test, Alpha 2 will probaly last somewhere between 1-2 years and game will be considered ready for launch by the end of it, Alpha 2 wont have everything to start with and seems like it be a small portion of the map aswell.

1 year was for them to complete everything were not getting at start of A2 and implement it into the game, and then another year 2 fix everything that needs fixed so 1 year is if everything is implemented perfectly first go (unlikly but can happen) and up to a year for fixing/tweaking things based on testing.
but these are just guesses.

Games can see a dramatic shift in gameplay and style during alpha stages. Even ports from other countries can last a while. I recall Alpha 2 Archeage lasting roughly a year before it launched in NA. Similarly, I was a new world alpha2 tester and, going strictly off my memory, that was somewhere between 9-12 months. New World ended up being severely rushed in the end and in my opinion the first 6 months of that game could have been considered a live alpha phase.

I am confident in saying that Intrepid wishes to avoid this trend of live alpha phases so it's not, to me, unexpected for alpha 2 to last somewhere around 18months. Purely speculation of course but they do want to get things right so there will be iteration upon iteration until they feel it's right. That said, they are certainly aware of the desire the mmo community has for the game, and as alpha 2 progresses I imagine they might feel growing pressure to deliver so it will be interesting to see how quickly things ultimately come together.

This is purely my best guess, but if alpha 2 starts quarter 1-ish 2024, we're looking at end of 2025 for an extremely optimistic launch. My suggestion is to not "wait" on ashes. Find other fun stuff to explore and play; stay connected as much as you wish, and then join the party when the time finally arrives!

I am of the opinion non of us know how much they have done that they have not told us about. With a team of120 plus employees they might have more done than most of us think, or less lol. I won't hold my breath but am hoping for A2 to be around Christmas. Hoping for a Christmas miracle.
