i mean mario bros 1 is one of the most sold video games ever, and one of the best.
it has sold more copies on release and in history than elden ring has, therefore aoc should get inspiration from mario bros 1 and not from elden ring.
They have something different, their own attitude that makes them have "that special something".
In the end you will always notice the types of players who expect what Ashes is going to offer.
Players who expect a AAA Ubisoft style Ashes
Players who expect a more immersive, challenging Ashes, more like a TRUE MMORPG should BE.
So you think intrepid is doing a good job?
-Delivery of quest dialogue. It's short cryptic exposition of quest details interwoven by lore. Delivery of the lines is perfectly timed. Pauses in speech, sighs, cries mid sentence-Something devs ignore in dialogues.
It saves money too, because everything you need to know is in those 3-4 sentenced delivered perfectly.
-Leaving messages in a world. I just think it would be hilarious. “Try finger, but hole”.
-Atmosphere. For a game that has mature rating, it really looks like game based on Disney cartoon.
-Plate armor. Current armor seem very bland and designed by someone who doesn't know basics of how armor works.
-Robes. When you move cloth moves too. In Ashes, your robe is glued to your model.
-Environment color schemes. FromSoft devs know how to make things pop out, even when its something colorful shown. They know that colorful things pop when placed over something desaturated.
Ashes is just colors upon colors. If everything pops out, nothing does.
-Boss design. Scaling, design, combat design etc. Don't let you bosses and your players just be dmg sponges.
Utilize that dodge mechanics in pve too.
-Boss introduction. If you make it memorable, people wont be bored of grinding it. Imagine if Firebrand appeared to you as many of the dragons from Elden Ring...
"CURSE YOU, BAYLE! I HEREBY VOW! YOU WILL RUE THIS DAY! BEHOLD, A TRUE DRAKE WARRIOR, AND I, IGON! YOUR FEAR MADE FLESH! SOLID OF SCALE YOU MIGHT BE, FOUL DRAGON… BUT I WILL RIDDLE WITH HOLES YOUR ROTTEN HIDE! WITH A HAIL OF HARPOONS! WITH EVERY LAST DROP OF MY BEING!"
-Parry system. This one is a bit hard and almost impossible to add because of latency and so on. Maybe I am wrong..
...and so on.
