For PVP, why wouldn't you just run......

After reading the bard abilities, why not run a full group of bards. Mobility. Aoe dps, shields and heals. Constant kiting. Maybe swap in a cleric just for rezing.

Well, you want damage hehe. bard are not a high damage class. They cant tank either.

from what everyone was saying bard is insane right now, but cant tank, so as it stands currently the idea would fly. one tank, one cleric and run 6 bards, but its alpha and I am 100% positive that is not what the devs had in mind.

While that would bring a lot of utility, the innate sustain of a bard even with heavy armor and a shield would probably be subpar, furthermore, the tanking bard would have trouble holding aggro of multiple mobs and with buffs (probably) not stacking it is unlikely that you can heal enough. And thats just for PvE encounters, in PvP this wont work at all.

It only takes a group with a couple of Warriors in any mmo to break all these "full X Y Z groups".

In an owpvp mmo, in which there arent simplistic objectives, in other words there is:
Pvp
Pve
Gathering
Guild war
you cant forgo the benefits of the other classes.

And even in a siege environment, in which ranged/melee, nuke/aoe tactics are more pronounced, it would be a waste to group up all your bards....

Not for pve but pvp. Tank are last on the kill list for pvp for good reasons. Eight bards with wands just aoe kite killing. They can escape or run down any group without a bard.

It'd be funny, but I'd hope you couldn't stack multiple instances of the same buff which would make it a moot point trying to run a full bard group.

do we even know if bard effects stack? could you have 5 bards run the spell that gives mana regen at the same time?

Bards are great as force multipliers in a group, and I would could consider any 8-man without a bard or two to be a silly, silly group, but the other classes do bring a lot to the table as well. More than a full group of bards would do I am pretty sure.

Each bard running a different effect while all running aoe dps. The run into another pvp group. They all keep running and burn down the priest with wands. All the while every other member of the enemy pvp group is taking aoe dps, stuns and snares etc.

Add in snares and stuns from 8 bards locking other players down would work methinks. Bards cannot heal, CC or dps better than other specialty classes 1v1 but as an 8 man pack the combination of abilities could be enough to overwhelm their enemies.

let's say you have 8 bards, other group has a bard, tank, and a mage among others. for 8Bards to engage they need to come in range, that's when tank will pull and disable one of them and he will get bursed. mage can put another bard to sleep and another bard can put one more to sleep, mage can root as well, ranger can root.
Yes, bards can shield and have sustain but once one is rooted - he's down.
8Bard group will not be more than an inconvenience for any type of mixed group.

Yes, just like ranger, mage, tank and bard on the opposite side (btw who will give the same speed to the party as 8Bard group has). To my knowledge, bard can’t burst anyone, while other party (with classes above) have that ability. Let’s say 8Bard group put everyone to sleep and kills healer(this is with the assumption the other party didn’t react at all), then what? Then they lose one of their own because everyone else is going to be out of CC, tank will pull, ranger will root, mage will put to sleep etc.

what if the other group has two healers? Then you probably won’t burst the other healer at all.

You won’t CC the whole group either, because they won’t stand in a line in front of you, they will be spread out.

General rule of thumb, in a more or less balanced game, a party of the same class will always fail against well rounded party.

The title of the thread literally says pvp. Why would you be holding mob aggro? You can literally out kite the enemy if there are mobs involved, forcing the other player to get 3rd partied by the mob. Unless of course they were running a bard too.
