Bard Healer Gameplay - How to Quick Wit?
Barque
I had a great experience trying out Cleric in a party. Soothing Glow, Mend, and Flash Cure on party bars mouseover and tab targeting felt very smooth and enjoyable to play.
Then I tried Bard, which has a great toolkit. Lovely Serenade and Shielding Dance are great, but Quick Wit healing is a really strong and important ability. The problem is that I can't really use it on mouseover. It prioritizes any enemy targeted for damage instead of party healing.
I've tried using it anyway, hitting escape and hoping I can de-target any enemies long enough to cast it during combat. But that's far from fluid.
This goes double if I want to help out someone not in party. First I struggle to un-target any enemies. Then I need to cycle friendly targets until I lock the person I'm trying to help.
I'm asking for any advice and feedback from folks who spent time healing. How did you manage it? I understand Cleric's Judgement ability has similar challenges, as it's another healing ability with friend/foe mechanics.

Yeah I found I had to click on their party portrait first, or click on the character themselves, before I could heal them with quick wit. I don't think there's another way at the moment.

Yea, I struggled with this as well since it prioritizes the offensive target and ignores the defensive target unless you first clear the offensive target which is less than optimal. Not really sure the best fix for this.
They could reverse it but then there will be people complaining that they are using Quick Wit when they are trying to toss a tomato. LOL

I could think of some simple solutions that would help a lot. Such as Quick Wit and Judgement only casting heal on party member bar mouseover, regardless of whether or not an enemy is targeted. But I'm mostly curious about the process others are using as-is.
I've been thinking about all the autotarget settings... I have several activated, and didn't play around with changing them. I'm wondering if disabling some might help with keeping no enemy targeted. I think these friend/foe abilities might work better if having an enemy targeted was an exception.
