Treasure maps, difficulty and snow

I think they rushed in treasure maps to fill the lack zinc/copper/flax, so they're likely to change. But before the snow came (Lyneth is currently late fall), the map location indicator was kinda hard to see on flat ground and sometimes was partly under a tree. But on hillsides it is ridiculously easy to see because the texture stays horizontal
Now with snow, it's nearly impossible to see the location under snow if it's on flat ground. I'm not bothering to do maps anymore.
Maybe we can get a different indicator of the treasure that's more consistent. Although I wouldn't be against something really obvious too. Treasure maps already are a low drop rate item, then you may have to fix them up with ink, get an excavation kit, then travel to the spot and deal with aggro (not really a problem at L25 in A2, but definitely could be at release) and find the treasure node.
