riding mount vs. burden mounts crafting ratio

dabudodabudo Member, Founder, Kickstarter, Alpha Two
I've crafted 5 novice mounts resulting in 2 riding mounts and 3 burden mounts, which is in keeping with the 50% chance. Except that from a marketing standpoint, it's a grossly unfair ratio. Clearly, riding mounts are going to be far more desirable than burden mounts. How many caravans have you actually seen compared to the gazillion riding mounts standing in front of marketplaces and warehouses? (Ok, gazillion might be an exaggeration). It only makes sense that the chance to get a riding mount should be higher than 50%.
Mounts should be special, that's a given. But maybe increase the chances of getting a riding mount while making it more costly in time and resources (appropriate to the crafter's level). Yes, it's already expensive and time consuming, which is why it's all the more important that we get the results we want.

Burden mounts are more useful though, you need 1 mount maybe 2 for a backup compared to needing 1 BoB every time the caravans gets blown up to replace it

There should be a way to determine which you want, especially with the cost of training them, and that you don't know whether you're getting a Trainable or a Carcass from the Hunting Animal. The Hunting/Tanning/Husbandry professions seem to need a thorough re-think. I'm looking forwards to seeing what they do with them.
