Golden Path Balance?

OK, so why would anyone bother crafting/gathering or farming novice gear when you can just run the quests and get sanctus items (BIS novice gear)?

You would think the devs would try to balance it so that it takes the same amount of time/effort to farm/gather sanctus recipes and create the items as it would be to do the quest to get the items. Instead you can be decked out in sanctus gear from quests within a few hours, rendering all other paths an obsolete noob trap.

I have to assume this is the intent, because there is no way that they thought people would be crafting sanctus gear as fast as the quest provides it. But does anyone actually like that shit? Most players want to think that the devs are at least TRYING to balance the different paths, rather than purposefully making one path incredibly powerful and everything else a noob trap.

"Oh, you wanted to craft novice gear? HAHA noob, they only put that in there to slow you down so that the people "in the know" can get ahead of you. LULZ"

Yeah, it's real dumb. The entire set of changes around player progression in P2.5 is weird as hell. Full items drop less, so we're supposed to craft them, but crafting takes insanely more resources, so I guess we're supposed to gather them, but gathering is barely working and is super limited in scale, so I guess we're supposed to do quests, but those literally give you a full set of gear that can easily get you to lvl15++ w/o even touching anything else, so I guess we should be able to get some items by then, but nothing drops and nothing can be crafted.

Oh, and don't even think about leveling up nodes or getting buildings up, cause all of that requires thousands more of mats that you never have and even if you DID have them - you'd try crafting stuff, because you have no damn gear :D

And then Intrepid were surprised that people were out-levelling the gear they had available.
