1 month of free membership seems like a small reward for supporting the game since the beginning

Just as the title says, only 1 free month of membership when the game officially launches doesn’t seem like a proper “thank you” for those players who took a chance on this project from the start.
6 months would be a more reasonable gesture

What tier of investment are you actually talking about here?
Which package did you buy that only gives 1 month of membership?
May 2017 OG are cringing at you.
I understand that, but even so, joining Alpha 2 means being there from the very beginning. In any case, I'm not trying to compete over who got in first. I'm simply pointing out that paying $100 to support the game at such an early stage, like Alpha 2, and only receiving one free month at launch feels like a small return.
That said, if you are pushing to get more for that $100, you aren't actually wanting to support the game. You are wanting to purchase subscription time.
Not to mention that A2 is not 'since the beginning' That was A0 and A1.

How sensitive some people in this community are, haha, I thought it was an adult community capable of dialogue.
I understand
It's typical childish reasoning. It's logical that as a buyer, one expects to get benefits commensurate with what one pays.
Can you clarify what you bought? Since people might not understand what you were buying.
In case it wasn't clear, you should be able to log in and test this weekend (and probably for at least another year).
It is indeed logical, and everything I have seen from Intrepid - other than cosmetics - follow this basic reasoning.
This is why your complaint is essentially being mocked. None of us have seen any alpha or beta packs we consider to be less than acceptable.
If we look at the only pack being sold right now, it is $100. For that, you get $15 in in game currency, $15 in subscriptions time, and the remaining $70 is for late state alpha access and access to all beta tests. That is a good value already.
It also stands to reason that your comment about supporting this game "from the start" is just weird. I first gave money to Intrepid in 2018 (iirc), so anything you are doing now is not "from the start" it is after years of development when there is a solid assurance that the game will actually exist.
Nothing at all childish in that reply to you.
I think I bought in at 250 or something. I would have bought in during Kickstarter but I didn't know of it, life was busy, those guys won't have a sub, awesome for them. Even so buying into a game that isn't release comes with the risk that the worst case the game will NEVER release (I fully believe Ashes will release btw). For me it was a 250 dollar gamble in a way, but I look at it as supporting the game and the genre as a whole. If the game is successful, even if I don't like it, it's a win to me.
If I want anything extra from Intrepid beside a great game. I want to be able to extract my character's model from the game to print it. Also mobs and bosses too, that'd be great lol.
Yeah, I get it sounds fair to me.
They kind of took the whole 'from the beginning' thing a bit too literally. I get why it might be confusing — it’s a bit subjective. For me, getting a game during alpha or beta counts as being there from the start, since the real game only kicks off when it officially launches.
But anyway, we're getting sidetracked.
So you want a $105 value, plus the time in Alpha and Beta? If they plan on going with the $15 a month model. (The extra $15 is the cosmetic shop bonus)
Honestly, I feel like giving just a free month and a few cosmetics to people who backed the game during alpha is kind of underwhelming.
I mean, six months would feel way more fair.
But hey, it’s weird — seems like no one else really agrees with receiving more benefits.
It isn't that people don't want more, it is that people want the game to succeed.
If they start bundling $90 worth of subscription time with $100 bundles, that would be bad.
I got what I paid for. I knew what I was getting when I paid, and so I don't expect more than that.
That's pretty much all there is to it, for me. It's not about agreeing or disagreeing with what's on offer.
The one month of free sub isn’t meant to “pay you back” it’s just a symbolic gesture on top of everything else that early supporters already got: exclusive cosmetics, lifetime discounts, unique titles, Alpha/Beta access, and most importantly, a voice in shaping the game through feedback during development.
Intrepid isn’t a big publisher with billions to spare. They’re doing something incredibly rare, building a true MMORPG from the ground up without pay-to-win, with no publisher breathing down their necks. Every dollar has gone into making Ashes what it is today.
So yeah, while six months might feel nicer, I’d argue that the real “thank you” is the game itself, and the chance to say you were part of it from the beginning. That’s something money can’t really buy.
I thought this thread would die out too! What keeps happening, who is ressurecting it??!?!?!?!
P.S: 6 months free was the $250 package buyin.
Why this argument keeps coming up? You are not forced to put your money on a line and there is plenty of finished games out there.
