Error “Pure virtual function being called while application was running (GIsRunning == 1).”

New download.

-> error occurs
-> infinte loading screen
-> end task
anyone has any idea what's the issue? I saw that there was no mention of this error on the forums. I tried reinstalling VC redist as per the suggestion under a post for another game but this didn't fix the problem.
